Problems

So, who has problems with their cars that they haven't been able to have fixed?

I'm looking to buy one of these this month, and I just want to know the real problems that haven't been solved yet.

Also, any complaints?

The heated seats don't work worth a damn and the dealership has no solution. The car interior warms up before you feel the heat in the seat (at least 6 minutes this winter), so what good are they? I am tired of people trying to tell me that its because I was wearing thick cloths and a jacket, no I wasn't! They are not going to keep my seats from cracking in the cold and I thought thats what they were for.

Other than that the car is great. Now that it has warmed up you probably will not hear too much about the seats until next winter.

I completely agree with the heated seat complaint. They are bad. I've timed mine at 5 minutes from cold (about 20 degrees in the car). However from "warm" (about 45 degrees outside) they heat in 3 minutes. Go figure..

Heated steering wheel, on the other hand is warm in about 60-90 seconds!

Other "complaints" include the blower motor. On certain speeds you can hear what sounds like a slight whistle. I think it is actually the motor itself. I plan on having my dealer take a look at it during my next service.

Other than that, it is a very nice car for the money.

I bought mine in May 2003. It's an early production car and I had a laundry list of problems and issues. Everything has been corrected to my satisfaction. It took several trips to the dealer to get it done. It wasn't unexpected though; I knew the risk of buying early production of an all-new design.

This is only my second car with heated seats. The first was a 2001 Maxima AE. Performance wise, the 04 heated seats are equal to the 01. My only other experience with heated seats is in a Tahoe. The Tahoe seats get to full temp in about 10 seconds and they are intense. I like the more subtle Maxima approach but I might have a different attitude if I lived in a truly cold climate. In Dallas they are great! The heated wheel rules too! Who knew?

re:problems

I've had my max since last April, and i've never had any problems with it, my heated seats work great and we had a pretty nasty winter up here this year. The heated steering wheel is a godsend, i never have to wear gloves anymore! The only thing i wish i had gotten was the navigation, it may be small up here but it would've come in handy. The biggest complaint i have is morons who decide to scratch my car, i've had my windows scratched too. jealous punks, anyways, have fun on your car search!!

Agree with the seats taking too long to heat up. At minus 20F, they will take 15 to minutes before you barely feel something. Not acceptable.
