auto or stick??

Wats up .org,
I had my car stolen a few weeks back and they found it and it was a total loss.
here is my dilema,
2morrow im gettin a 6th gen max,
The inside of the car is off the hook but the outside i dunno, i guess it will grow on me.
Im getting it fully loaded
should i get it in auto or 6mt?????
the reason im going with the max is well cause i dont like no other car other than the 350 but my boi has that already
help which one should it be??

Why do you want to get something you don't really like because your boy already has it? I would get the car I really want, which in your case is the 350Z. Just make it unique and mod it different then what he has.

This is why you buy a Maxima, in my opinion. Go with the stick.

I would go for the maxima. Ive driven 5.5 gens and my 6th gen and I like the 6th gen the most. I love the interior and exterior of the 04 more.

Oh yeah mines a 6 speed and its great. Also ran a 14.3@96 when it was stock so performance is nice.

Get the G35 coupe. I mean you'll grow on the 6th gen but you will al,so grow on the g35. The 6th gen Maxima is ugly IMO. BTW, the 6tyh gen just came out and has a lot of bugs. And all you get is a shimmy in the steering! HEHE

I dont have many bugs with my 6th gen. Only thing I dont like the the cd changer which skips on me a lot. other than that the 04 beats the 5.5 gens in most categories.

The 6th gen has been out for exactly a year now. I dont think it has as many bugs as it did in the beginning.

Well a problem with the spiders... I put em on recently and noticed that one wheel was very light and it looks silver. the other wheels have a darker tinted look to em, like gunmetal.

heres a pic of the passenger side:

Anyone else see it?

I would recommend comparing insurance costs between the two cars. The transmission choice should depend on your driving style and environment.

IMO I would get a G35 Coupe or a new Acura TL, but if you're set on the max then definately get a 6-speed.

I'm with the others. I love my Max, but if I were buying now, I would either get the G35 Sedan or the Acura TL. I absolutely love the new TL, but the G35 has AWD.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but does anybody know if they plan on making the G35 coupe AWD?

Here's a novel idea. Test drive some cars - and then buy the one you like the most. I don't like the 6th gens. Doesn't mean you won't like it. Who cares what others think or who else has what? I like a stick-shift, but maybe you're in traffic alot so an auto would be better. Who knows. Let your feet, hands, eyes, and **** tell you what car is best for you.

I'd get a Ferrari. but that's just me.

Dude, if youre looking for something different, then you sould most deffinetly get the G35 coupe! The car looks so much better than the Z. Its also a better car all around. It does have 7 less hp, but in every other aspect, its better!

Get the Z, you only live once and FWD with I-beam rear supsension will become a handicap if you are into performance at all.

yeah i agree with the G35, if you like the 4dr sports car, then go with the 4 dr, its like having a 350z, but more room and more luxury, but i guess its going to be a bit more pricey, if your getting a maxima get the auto, if your getting a Z, get manual, a manual is a must on a true sprts car...
IMO

Thats not a defect thats the wheel retail center giving it to you dry and giving you the other availible color instead of them all Gunmetal. I have these on my car and cose to get Gunmetal instead of the silver.

I say get the car "you" want to drive and doesn't matter if you "boi" already has one.

Either way, I would go w/ manual.

I gotta say I always get a kick out of these threads ... the 5th Gen boys (bois?) always groan about how fugly the 6th Gen is and the 6th Gen boys rave about their excellent-looking rides.

I didn't have a 5th Gen, but I did have a 4th Gen (the 5th Gen looks too much like the 4th, so I passed). But I think the 6th Gen is the best job of styling Nissan has done in decades ... finally a car that doesn't fade into the masses of other Japanese sedans, so I nailed one. And I've been happy as a clam with it. No shimmy. No rattles. No bugs. Runs like stink and gets 23mpg city/30mpg hwy while doing it. And it's a 5spd automatic, which I recommend.

All I can say is this is the most car you can get right now for this kind of price. WOOT!

Mike

I believe that a lot of people say that the 6th gen is fugly is because it is the fugliest MAx ever built. The front end resembles a Quest.

Well I think I got a silver wheel instead of a gunmetal. Im hoping the .org member I got them from will trade when he gets his shipment in. He said it would be in April when he gets more, but I havent checked back with him in a few weeks.

In about 10 days, my 04 Max will be 1 year old, and the only real issue I have had was the gas gauge sticking. That was easily fixed. I also hear the rattle on the back deck when I have a person in the back seat, but it isn't too bad. In fact, it is such a non-factor that I forget to tell the service guy everytime I bring it in for regular service.

BTW, I have 22K miles

If it doesn't bother you I wouldn't have them fix it. They have to take the whole back seat out and the C Pillar covers. I had them fix it now my C-Pillars squeak when going over a rough road. If you want it fixed pay someone to put dynamat or something in it, or do the EXTRA EASY inexpensive fix that some have used. Put a rubber pad between the brake light fixture and the rear windshield.

Trust me I tried but I had VIN-ETCH and the way that , that worked is I would get 5gs to purchase another nissan from the specific dealer that i got the las max from which was amity nissan. I fought and argued but at the end of it all it was nissan or a loss of 5Gs

There is on question about whether to get a manual or auto...The auto Max is nice, but you lose a lot of control when it comes to downshifting and accelerating. I am not one for auto sticks cause if you are not a true manual driver already you are just asking to have to replace a tranny. Stick with the Max w/6sp. Its an all around nicer car. Insurance is cheaper than the 350 also.

Bought my fiance' a base '04 350Z last Sept. for her birthday. Thought about getting myself one too but you're right, not enough room. (I like to golf w/ my pops). Just bought an '04 Max 5sp A/T last week.
Love driving the 6sp Z, what a rush, but I'm in my 40's and I don't like being challenged each time I get behind the wheel.
Love driving the Max but I keep wanting to downshift.
Flip a coin, both are fun to drive and both are gonna get looks....( I know....hedonistic AND shallow)
OR... get something else. It's your investment... in more ways than one.
