Nuisance Number 2 Eliminated!
As some of you will remember, I created a mod a few weeks ago to eliminate the "safety warning" message on the NAV screen. I ended up modifying that one to NOT work with my alarm auto-locks (timing was not reliable enough if I didn't auto-start) and creating a relay timer circuit that waits 10 seconds after the car starts, then closes a relay for 1 second. THAT works flawlessly.
On to mod #2- eliminating the loss of functionality to the NAV and Vehicle settings menus while driving (for my passenger, of course teehee). After careful scrutiny of the schematics, I found a single VSS lead that would control both NAV and Display control VSS signals. All you have to do is insert a toggle switch in this line, and full functionality returns while driving. The only drawback is that the NAV stops tracking (since it thinks the vehicle is stopped) and it takes a minute for it to return to course once you flip the switch back. I'll take that though in exchange for being able to actually access my address book while in motion.
Anyone interested in either mod, shoot me a PM and I'll gladly share the details.
