I got it....I got it

My new Max...the long wait finally came to an end on Friday. The car is beautiful. Spririted Bronze SL, DPP, VDC, Splash, Mats. What a step up from my 4th gen. The ride is amazing, lovin the independent rear...what an improvement over the beam. The HIDS...now those are headlights. The sharp cutoff is a little strange at first though.

Knock wood....no shimmey and the glove box IS alligned correctly

Nice car, huh? I'm doing the spirited bronze thing with you, and I think the body color/wheel color combo is outstanding. That soft silvery color accents the bronze sooooo well. Freshly washed and in the sunshine it'll knock birds out of the sky.

Congrats, brudda!

Congrats! I love that you got the VDC package; a real safety feature for serious drivers. The DP pkg moves a very nice car slmost into the pure luxury category. I found the SL to be a more comfortable ride than the SE for trips.

The spirited bronze was my fav color of the Maxima options, and had I lived a few hundred miles further north (somewhere where the temp sometimes dips below 90 degrees some days) that would have been my choice.

But the best thing is no shimmy! That miserable shimmy thing spoiled what should have been the experience of a lifetime for so many '04 Maxima owners.

Again, congrats on a very smart purchase!

Congrats!! I know the feeling that you have.

Mine is perfect also. I guess they had to learn the drill at the new plant and the early ones out are the problems. My SL has the 5 speed AT that takes some getting used to. Were you lucky enough to get that also? (Made after Feb does the trick, it is on the sticker and of course will show up in manual shift mode)

My black leather really sets it off and gives that rich feel. I added XM to the final deal and wow is that special.

Have to agree as soon as I saw the Spirited Bronze color...I knew that was the one. As long as it only knocks the birds out of the sky and not their payload.....nothing worse then a nice clean car and then splat.

I love the car...def the DDP puts it in the luxury category. Thought the VDC would be a nice safety feature to have...hope I never have to try it though. Traction control will be nice when the snow come back around.

Yes mine is the the 5 speed also...would not have it anyother way.
What makes you say that the 5 Speed AT "takes some getting used to"?

95Max - Not trying to guess what originalstar meant by 'getting used to the 5 sp auto in the SL' (actually, I am trying to guess), but maybe he was used to driving an auto tranny without the manual mode, and is getting used to the big difference of driving a gated auto with manual override.

I am guessing that because there is really no dif in driving the SE or SL with 5 sp auto.

But I admit I am guessing.

What takes getting used to is the new shift patterns it exhibits. In town going down hills, it does not immediately shift into the higher gear, but instead holds longer like one would do with a manual. I'm used to a pattern that shifts out of lower gears instantly. Don't get me wrong, after 3 weeks I seldom notice it now, but at first it did strike me as odd. This is not a bad thing, I do like it.
