Got it!!!

I picked up my new SL last night!! It's great! What a perfect delivery! No rattles, the glove compartment door is lined up, and the paint is perfect and consistent all over the whole car!

I will post pics later. I got Red Opulence, Black Leather, and the only option was sunroof. I waited 76 days, but it was totally worth it!!!

Now, which remote start kit will work with the factory remote? I gotta get that put in this week! The black leather will fry me unless I get that air going!

Thanks! I love this car!!!

Congrats on your new car! I know you will love it! Get your windows tinted, it will help with the heat. My SE is black with black leather and I noticed a huge difference when I got my 35% tint put on.

Welcome iadubes to the 6th generation! I sure can use a little SL support here for I am dearly outnumbered by those SE fanatics. I've seen that red and it is a real rich color with that black interior. Enjoy.

Welcome iadumbes. The Red Opulence is a really sharp color. Good choice.

Congratulations on your new car.

Did you order your car or have them search it out? I ordered an SE last Friday and waiting 76 day may just kill me.

I ordered Onyx over Black leather too, so the 35% tint suggestion above seems like a good idea. Mattlerose, did you do the four side windows and the rear?

Try holding down the unlock button while you're walking towards your car and see what happens. You'll like it.

Yeah, that is a great feature, I'm using that today, but in the direct sunlight at 90 degrees, I'm getting swamp a$$ just sitting in it!

I remember someone posted a system that worked with the factory remote, but I can't remember which one it is. I've been looking through back posts, but can't find it either! HELP!!!

Congrats! Great color. My last 4 cars have been that color, so I was partial to it. As tempting as it was to get it again, because it is a beautiful color, I just couldn't do it. I needed a change. You're going to love it though, that color really shines.

Yeah, I specifically asked my saleman if you could put the windows down with the remote. He told me no, only from the inside controls. I was disappointed. Then when I went home and was looking through the quick reference manual I was thrilled to find out I did have this feature after all! If your going to sell something at least know your product, geesh.

Yes, salesmen are often totally uninformed about the small details that could seal the deal. I asked for a demo of the RDS during the test drive and he was clueless not even knowing what it was.

I agree. They should know the details - mine didn't know where the assembly line was located - I mean what country!

As an aside, can a remote that lowers the windows be a deal maker ?

Totally a deal maker. The heated steering wheel and that remote feature sold me on mine. ha ha hah!

You make a good point though about salesmen being informed. Its got to be touigh to know everything when you have so many different models on the lot at one time. I always know more about the car than the salesman, I just want him to work out the numbers for me. Because at the end of it all its a matter of "can I afford xxx per month?"

I was buying the Max either way, it wasn't an influence in my decision obviously. For some people it's the little things like that, that can push them towards one car over another. It would only be in the dealers best interest to make sure things like this is conveyed to potential buyers.

When we were looking we would always ask the salesperson how long they had been there. It started to become a running joke with us, guessing ahead of time what the "standard" answer was going to be. The usual response was any where from 2 weeks to 2 months. Low and behold the guy I bought the Max from said 10 years! We were really thrown off on that one!

My salesman was there a couple of weeks. We had a problem that got into the sales process with the sale price vs payments which spilled into the sales manager's office, involved the dealership owner - and was not pretty.

As part of the closing, I had to sign the usual docs, including one that said the car was delivered in perfect condition. It so happens the car had a small abrasion on the passenger door they had agreed to fix ahead of time as part of the negotioations. I asked for a receipt stating that I was owed this fix. The salesperson gave me his word that it would be done. I replied that I want the document anyway since he might find a better job, etc.

I got the document, the repair was done - and the salesman was gone within a few days after I bought the car!

That reminds me. About 4 years ago we were car shopping, test drove the car (alone), went inside to talk the talk with the salesman. Anyway, salesman was acting kinda strange. Very distant. Sales manager ended up talking to us and was going to locate the color that we wanted. We ended up leaving and the sales manager calls 2 weeks later apologizing. After we left the salesman quit and walked out right behind us! By then we had already bought something else.

Contragulations on your new Max, iadubes!

Speaking of folding mirrors, my brother-in-law just purchased a brand new BMW 545i (awesome car). He was showing it off to me the other day, when I asked him if his mirrors folded electricly...he just looked at me puzzled and said that he's never heard of that on a car. When I showed him mine, he didn't know what to say. After all, he spent nearly $60,000 on the BMW.

Where'd you buy yours? My order is at Walser in Burnsville at $200 over invoice plus any incentives when the car arrives in 8-10 weeks.
