Twin Turbo
That article is just bad journalism. It appears that this article was written when the new Maximas were first released. If that's so and rumors of a twin-turbo Maxima were legitamate, everyone would know about it. It seems to me that whoever wrote this article got his info from a shady source.

I just read your article about the maxima. At the end, it mentions a "rumor" about a TT version. No doubt a Twin turbo'd VQ35 would put out well over 300hp(more like 330hp). Logigistics aside, this would severly cut into the Nissan's Z series and Infiniti line of G series and even their upcoming M45 and their current Q45.
Where did you get this information? I'd like to see where this rumor came from? I would assume if you felt good enough to put this into print, you should be able to provide some legitimate sources.
Logic would say if Nissan introduced a TT version of their great 3.5liter VQ series, it would NOT show up in their FWD family flagship. It would most certainly be introduced in the Z, G or a Skyline (if Nissan brings it into the USA)

They sell the maxima in Japan? Link? Nissan "could" do alot of things. But you have to think about the marketing side.
If you offer a TT AWD maxima for like $35 grand. Who in the hell is gonna buy the Z, G35,M45 and Q45? You just spend a billion in development/sales/marketing for these cars and now you just killed yourself.

This is how you handle your business. I got a reply back: so in the future, instead in just posting some odd link, do some research. This took about 10 min out of my day.

Skyline is coming. Ghosn has said as much, and the G35 is based on that
chassis.
As for the Japanese gentleman riding in the back seat that day, his
name
escapes me at the moment. I can't remember if it was Masaaki Shigesada,
manager of the Vehicle Design Engineering Center or not, though I'm
sure he
reported to Masami Yagata the Chief Product Specialist for that
platform in
product planning. Best I can do without searching through two year's
worth
of notebooks.
As I remember the conversation, the talked about number was 300 hp. And
the
car would come with standard all-wheel-drive, Elite seating package
(which
could be deleted to allow three to sit in back), and Skyview roof,
among
other things. And he was adamant that Nissan and Infiniti buyers don't
cross-shop, which I found a bit hard to believe.
And the twin turbo could easily appear in the Maxima after it shows up
elsewhere, so it might still happen. It just won't happen in 2005,
apparently.

I wrote to the editor of that article and here is his answer:

There has been no mention from Nissan of a twin turbo Maxima for 2005, or
any other year for that matter, since the launch of the car. During that
trip, the lead engineer asked what we would think of a twin turbo, AWD
Maxima selling in the low $30,000 range. And he intimated that all of the
pieces necessary to build such a model were available, could be put on the
car without any major modifications, and had met with a level of acceptance
from the higher ups at Nissan.
The fact that Nissan is introducing an Altima SE-R model in 2005 suggests
that this super Maxima could still be in the pipeline. It may just be that
there are too many new models coming to produce that car quickly at this
point. However, it's also possible that someone in the marketing department
or the executive suite took a look at the Infiniti lineup and wondered
whether an AWD twin turbo Maxima wouldn't compete with the AWD G35x just
introduced late last year.
If we hear anything more about the Maxima -- good or bad -- we'll be sure to
let you know.

Good job writing him hehe.
You know what's funny? In my email to him, I told him Nissan wouldn't produce this type of car in the maxima. Here's my email to him- see the marketing portion? I wonder where he got that from??
