DVD based Navigation Software

Hey guys this is my first post, so go easy on me.

Does anyone know where to get the 6.2 version of the DVD Navigation software. The dealership wants $180, which is pretty steep. I just moved jobs and the software doesn't recognize the part of town I work in, Its newly developed. Let me know.

Thanks, cajunmex

Can I add: does anyone know which company makes the software?
Does Nissan OEM it from Garmin, for example?

It's 185 on their site. I bought it, but I have not tried to copy it using a dvd burner. Would probably work, just haven't had the chance to go buy the big dvd's - It contains about 8gb worth of info, so you need the dual layer 9.4gb dvds.

I was thinking of getting an updated copy myself. Leopor, did you notice any big difference in the new dvd? Did they add more features or just updated the information? Thanks

Nah, just updates, nothing I noticed since the area I live in was pretty much already covered. The only real big thing was all the roads they changed during The Big Dig in Boston. When I used to drive through there I'd be on grass, underwater, etc. That's all fixed in this new one, heh. If you go to www.zenrin.com they show you maps of the US with detailed explanations of where/what they updated. So if you lived in one of those areas that they updated heavily, it'd be worth it to you to get it. Me, I just felt like getting it, heh.

Yeah, The Dig screws up the roads. When I was still in Boston, 93 used to change weekly. Man, it was a pain keeping up with the changes. Used to get lost all the time. Now living in LA, I always wondered how the Navi is going to fare in Boston. Glad your new DVD has the updates, its definitely worth it in beantown.

Anyone know how to check the version of the DVD software that is running. Can you do it from the screen, or should I just pop the DVD out and read it.

When was 6.2 released?

Just pop out the DVD and it is marked on there. I believe that 6.2 was released at the beginning of 2004 or late 2003. (but I may be wrong)

Spunko...thanks for the info

I realized that I took the dealer on his word that the latest version was in the drive...but I never checked.

I'm going to check at lunch time.
