Mistook a new Altima for a Civic today....

Well ... almost.... I caught up to a new Black Altima today on the street, still had the dealer plate-holder on the back, anyways, they've added a chrome strip across the trunk, right above the license plate, and if it weren't for the clear tail-lights, it looked EXACTLY like a Civic with that same chrome strip. You don't see it online since the images they have aren't of the black version, but trust me, you'd think Civic too if you saw one. That can't be good, can it?! hehe Thank goodness no one can mistake the Maxima for something else, at least not yet (except now that Saturn's trying to imitate the Max look a little).

haha, this would have anything to do with the Atli 05 vs. Max 04 thread?
I know about the ION, since I wanted my Max since they debuted, everyone (few) caught my eye. I would get mad when glancing at the read side of an imposter ION. I think many "dislike" the 04 because of the price hike making it a bit unreachable. If it wasn't for the novelty of the G35, the Max would of gotten more good press. Once again, fine with me. I know what I have and love being one of the select few owners.

No, nothing prompted me to write that, just the striking resemblance to the black Civic, which was my exact car before the Max.

Another car that looks like the 04 Maxima is the Mitsubishi Galante. But I never thought the Civic or the ION looks like the Atlima. OK, maybe the ION alittle..

"..looked EXACTLY like a Civic"... "striking resemblance to the black Civic". Are you serious? I'll be the first to acknowledge that looks are subjective, but a trip to the optometrist might well be advisable. Find a couple of friends that think the '04 Max looks EXACTLY like a Saturn Ion and bring them along for a group discount.

There is NO resemblance between the Altima and Civic...nice degradation attempt.

I mistook the front of a black '05 Altima for a black Mercury Sable from a distance yesterday, but never a Civic...who are you trying to kid?

You make the comparison, and you can see how I had to do a double-take....

I would have to agree with you chrisaust. A quick glance from several yards away could lead to mistaken identity FROM THE BACK

From the SIDE or FRONT....no way.

The 6th gen Maxima's cousin is the 04 Galant. And half cousin is the Saturn Ion.

If you put f'ing Altezzas on a Camry it'll look like an Altima too.

Does this thread have anything to do with Maximas?

It's rather funny how ****ed some owners get when you compare their "almighty" 6th gen Max to those "lousy" cars; then the owners have no qualms about comparing their "lousy" 6th gen Max to an "almighty" Mercedes CLS. Go figure...

Wait!! You're right. (looking at the pictures) But when I put my glasses back on, the differences are quite clear.

Well yeah, I'm not saying after looking at the Altima for more than 1 second that I didnt realize it wasnt a Civic, but hey, when you're driving down a busy road and you see what looks like a Civic up ahead and then when you get closer you realize its an Altima, that's kinda humorous... from the back only, of course

Yeah, at very first glance it does look like one, I never was a fan of those mandatory euro-style tail lights on the Altimas. Some car colors just don't look good with them IMO.

But I'm with Chrisaust | after 1.3 seconds you come to your senses.

Any black car with a license plate on the trunk and after-market Altezzas will look like an Altima from a distance at a glance...this isn't some great revelation.

To bring it back to topic: I've mistaken an '04 Maxima for a Saturn Ion at a glance from a distance, under a full moon, in the pouring rain, etc.
