Auto 5 speed max
Auto 5 speed max
hello fellow max owners.
Last night being 4th of july, i parked the car let it sit for about 2 hours while i went out on my boat. came back. put my car in reverse cut the wheel to pull out of my spot. then cut the wheel the other way and slid it down into D. hit the gas a little and i hear a clunk from the driver side front. i then tryed doing it from R to D with the wheel straight and it does it also from the driver side front.
can someone help me out before i go to the dealer with this issue so i might be able to give them a little hint on what the problem is.
Thanks for the space

It is your transmission switching gears. If you are not completely stopped it will make funny noises.
What is happening the clutches that control the gears selection are being forced to engage faster then they were designed, so you are hearing them being slammed into engagment.
Make a complete stop, wait a second, and then shift. If you still hear the noise, then you have a problem with the transmissions control system. (improper pressures)

it seems like its a bad CV joint on that side of the car. but i understand why you would say its the tranny cause its on the same side im hearing the clunking. i also thought it maybe a loose control arm bushing or bolt.
ok..... back from the dealer. Shimmy is fixed so far so good. shift shock apparently isnt for my car... the TSB #'s didnt match my ECM or something like that. so i gotta wait till they release that TSB which will be soon. as for the clunking. THEY COULDNT FIND ANYTHING. and i cant get the car to do it anymore.
