What did everyone pay for their Max?

I am looking at an 04 SL with VDC, sunroof, and drivers package. Edmunds says the invoice is around $29,500, MSRP is $32,400, and TMV is $29,700. I am sure a lot of people buy cars near MSRP because they don't understand how much money the dealer is really making.

With that said, I think I can get the price down past the invoice. Another plus is that my mom is going to lease a pathfinder so if we go together we might get a deal on the cars.

Am I crazy for thinking I can get below invoice? What did everyone pay for theirs?

I bought the same car about 3 months ago. Mine is Smoke which then was a really hot color for Maxima's. I paid invoice plus 1% with no paperwork fees, dealer add-ons, etc. Just had to pay the tax and the state license fee. Plus I got Nissan's 1.9% financing

How much did you put down and how good is your credit? I put down 20K and have pretty good credit but only got 4.29% financing. I also bought mine about 3 months ago.

What was the price of yours Edify11?

What would the chances be if my dad (he does the price dealing for my mom) and I went into a nissan dealer and told them we wanted two cars that they would give us the Maxima for $27,000 before taxes and everything else? Seeing has the invoice is $29,500 and we are buying two cars they might give us a break and we will be going at the end of the month.

Just got an SE on 06/20/2004

I got the SE+DPP+VDC+some dealer's add-ons (wheel-locks and trunk-storage nets) for around $3250 under-listed-MSRP.
Didnot get the 1.9% but the $1K-rebate (I think it's over by now) afterward to make it $4250-under.
I think it's a sweet-deal @Connell in Costa Mesa,CA
Called its Internet Manager, gave him the presumed best price (@invoice) and ask him to beat. The guy said "by a couple hundreds..." and that's it. He even forgot the car had some extra dealer's add-ons.
Of course I'm there the next day. The guy threw my the keys w/o asking for any IDs and said "come back whenever you're done...". When we sat down afterward, the guy just presented the paperwork w/ all the numbers written, it's a done deal. The finance is very quick since I got pre-approved @4.04%/5yr by CapitalOne/Costco. Nissan Credit just matched that. Total time = ~15 minutes. Wait for carwash = 30minutes.
So: get pre-approved for a loan + locate the car @nissanusa.com + pick up the phones and call all the internet/fleet managers and let them fight for your $$$.

Not that far below invoice. Not a chance. The most you can really expect is ~900 which is the dealer hold back. And that is really if they have had the car for longer than they like it on the lot. Weekends are better sells because they have to meet quota, Sunday especially if they are below quota.

I got an SE DPP and Sunroof... I think that there was something else but I am not sure... Jan 2nd (right at the begning of their quota period (going against my own advice because my previous car was totaled and the insurance company was no longer going to pay for rental) before the special financing) for 28.8K With a sticker of 32.1K.

I paid $400 over invoice on mine. Total came to just shy of $30K. I've got a 6 speed SE with DPP, power sunroof, mudguards and trunk mat.

Well I guess if my dad works at it he might be able to get it down to a little over $28,000. I think that would be a reasonable price if we buy two cars. We can get invoice anywhere else so hopefully they will give us a little deal.

Around the Bay Area, CA, I found prices ranging from $500 over invoice to $800 below invoice (this was before rebate). But the inventory wasn't very exciting.

I ended up with $500 below invoice (I think):

SE Auto, DPP, premium audio, sunroof, splashguards, mats + aftermarket Nissan grill that they wouldn't take off.

28,854 + tax

I got 3.9% financing through my credit union for 6 years.

Paid 35200 for my SE Elite with every dealer add on, and 200 miles of towing, including tax and licensing. Something like 700 bucks over invoice of the car's MSRP, plus tax, everything else free.

So it is possible to get a thousand or so off invoice you just have to go at the right time and know how to work the dealer.

THe $1000 rebate has been extended until Aug 2nd. The best deal that I have been offered so far was $4,700 under MSRP on an SE with DPP, sunroof, mats, splashguards and 18" chrome wheel package. Of course, the dealer is about 5 hours away and I had to email about 15 dealers in order to get that good of a deal.

I paid $29,700 for my 04 SL. I put half down and financed the rest for 4.2% as I recall. Just paid it off though so no more financing. It's mine outright

Go in at the end of the month... that's when they will practically pay you to take the car off the lot. Realistically, I'd say you can get around $2000 off any vehicle, no matter the options. Generally, the invoice pricing that I've seen is a bit more than $2000 under MSRP. At the end of the month, they just want the cars out the door so they can make their numbers.

When I was buying, all dealers in town were willing to make the same deal ---> 3% over invoice (so the salesman and dealer can make their little bit on it). I figured that was reasonable, seeing as how the salesman I ended up with was a nice guy.

SL, loaded, NAV, etc. MSRP $33740, paid $31000, 1.9%.

Dang your payments must be high!

My deal:
$30,820 MSRP ('04 SL with Drivers package/splash guards/mats/cargonet)

$26,513 out the door (Edmunds says invoice for this car/options is 27,545)

My trade was worth $1200 according to KBB and it needed $1200 worth of work (of course I knew that, they didn't). So I basically got them to come down $3,100. The only thing I paid was half of a dealer prep fee, which cost me $193 (included in above price).

I put down $4,000 and financed the rest at 1.9%
So what I didn't realize till right now is that I actually paid $1,032 under invoice. I knew I got a good deal, but that's actually even better than I realized. So it's possible.

Good luck!

I have 3 dealers that have said they will go $1,500 under invoice on anything in stock. This does include them keeping the $1000 rebate of course. The trouble is that none of the 3 have the exact color/options that I want.

Anyone see the LA/Orange County ads this weekend ? They're giving $5K+ off on a $28K+ Maximas. OK, they said only two available @the price. But you know what to bargain for then. Imagine how much $$$ you can ask for the top-end/loaded Maximas. Go shopping people !!
I got a good deal 3 weeks ago. I'm not feeling that bad.

I'll be getting mine at invoice. I went to the dealer at the end of May with a trade-in ('02 Xterra) and made the deal on the purchase price but they wouldn't give me what I owed on the Xterra. So, I placed an order for a Mystic White, SE, w/Sensory package and sunroof. Then I sold the Xterra myself (it took 1 day in the auto trader) Now I'm without a car until the Max comes in. After reading this forum I know it will be worth the wait.
