20's and stock suspension

Well Im thinking about putting Chrome 20s on my SL without lowering it., Just wanted to know if this is gonna be a problem with my stock suspension?? I heard the ride might get rough, but i just dont want to keep replacing my suspension every year due to some big WHEELS!! And if anybody knows where i can get some nice looking rims , let me know.

Also thinking about getting 2 tvs in the headrest and 2 tvs in the sunvisors,.you look it would look ghetto?? I want to know the opinions of my fellow maxima drivers.

Welcome aboard Silver SL, looks like we have the same exact car...

I've been running 20's since Nov. with the Eibach pro kit and I have had no problems. But if you dig here in the threads, most of the problems seem to come from lowering (blowing struts out) not just changing wheels. But you're going to have a nasty gap without lowering especially in the front, that's something I just couldn't have on my car. The ride itself is rougher but it doesn't bother me too much.
As far as wheels go, just search search search the web until you find something you like and then search more for the best price.
As far as TV's go I have one in the dash and was thinking about headrest screens but I heardly ever have anyone in the back seats, I'm not such the show off guy anyways that I would have the monitors on all the time in the back seat with nobody back there.
So for me I'm sticking with one screen (for now who knows down the road)
How are you planning on doing the system? Replacing the stock unit or just adding DVD player and screens?
Good luck!!!

thanks for the reply,.. i believe i seen your car in the members page, 2 thumbs up I have harsh winters here in New York so i dont know about lowering. I dont know where ur from but what do u do in the winter if the snow gets bad?? I've never lowered any of my cars so i dont know anything about them. But for the system i wanna keep the head unit stock and just add a dvd player in the glovebox or the armrest if i can find one that fits. I can get 4tvs w/ a dvd player and setup for about $1000 so i figure that aint to bad.

got 20s on mine also...no lowering, no problems on the suspension...
ride degrades, but not enough for you to go back to stock wheels.

one thing to worry about is your brakes if the wheels are heavier than
stock...mine are heavier, but i haven't had problems yet. (only 7500 miles)

i am waiting for am struts, but nobody criticizes the front wheel
gap when they see the car in person.

same with jsmithsole on the in dash dvd...visualogic makes
the best headrest screens, but they don't make one for the
04 max.

keep me posted if you end up getting the headrest screens.

lowered on 20's and the ride isn't that bad, but being over here in the northeast, the struts are definetely going to go. We need aftermarket struts asap.

I envy you guys... sometimes. The roads here in Kansas City really suck!! I chose to roll 19"s. That way I could have some sidewall. The 255/50/19 seems to fill the wheelwell gap more than most 20's ive seen. What sucks is finding 19" tires for a reasonable price

silversl, I do believe you can get those wheels in chrome and the pic was taken about 2.5 weeks ago. South jersey man, rednecks and poor white trash = cheap gas

You may risk your brakes failing. Also if your going 60, you may be doing 65
or less. You should reaserch before going Dubs.

yes research is key, and the stock 18 se wheels with 245/45/18 (whatever they are) have an over diameter of 26.7". Now if you upgrade to 20 inch wheels and want the same exact ride height, a 245/35/20 will give a 26.7" ride height. I personally wanted wider tires so I went with a 255/35/20 which has an overall diameter of 27". For the most part the speeds aren't off, when I check them with speed traps from 25 mph all the way to 70mph. I can't say for anything faster though because at higher speeds the rate grows exponentially do the radius size and centrifugal velocity.

I've ridden in Jsmithsole's car and will say that the ride is still excellent and the drop is perfect with 20's. Go with the Eibach's, you won't be disapointed.
