A lesson on maintenance from the TL forum

OMG, the ominous TL transmission. Didn`t they clear up that problum yet? I bought the Max 6 speed stick because of the uncertainty of those trannys, however they are now producing their own 6 speed stick.

Quite a story had my attention, maybe the author should be writing for Harlequin Romances or maybe that is a direct quote. hahaha

I was enjoying this all-too-real scenario until it came to the TL tranny.

My son bought a TL Type S to drive and maintain religiously, planning to keep long-term. Then he begins seeing horror stories about the tranny on the net. The problem becomes so bad Honda issues a long-term tranny guarantee for a big block of VIN #s.

But the range stopped just short of his VIN, and folks with VINs higher than his are having the same tranny problem. Now he lies in bed at night, tossing and turning, trying to decide what to do about this TL tranny situation.

Thank goodness I have always been, and will always be a Maxima man. I sleep with a smile on my face.

I wish I could share your contentness, lightonthehill, but i'm starting to toss and turn about my 5-spd. it's starting to act funny... i'm beginning to think these 5-spd tiptronics are just not quite ready to hit the market yet. Honda, Nissan, and whoever else that uses them, rushed to get them out without ironing out all the bugs. There are just way to many common problems with them between all manufacturers. But, don't get me wrong, I love the 5-spd, just feeling a bit weary.
