2005 Maxima?
That has been the subject of several threads here, but nobody seems absolutely positive of anything.
A few think the '05 will have AWD, but most doubt this. I feel this may be either standard or an option with the '06 revamp; certainly no later than the '08 seventh generation release.
Turbo has been suggested, but this makes no sense with an engine already with about as much power as a FWD vehicle can handle. I don't ever expect to see turbo on the FWD Maxima.
Some have predicted the demise of the skyroof, due to exploding glass. But Nissan found the problem, and has a fix, so I expect to see the skyroof continue.
I personally feel Nissan will stay with the usual pattern of changing very little the second year of any Maxima generation.
My guess is maybe a ten to fifteen HP boost (past the TL), the addition of one or two colors (maybe a dark or sage green?), dropping of the champagne mist (this hue is covered by coral mist, a color released Feb 6th of this year), and, most importantly, addressing a few of the more pernicious bugs that have plagued some '04 Maximas.
But then these are my thoughts, and could be wrong, as usual.
As to the release date, having seen an '04 Maxima arrive at my dealer yesterday with VIN 930015, it seems the '04 production has run right on thru the month of July, so the assembly line conversion (which shouldn't take long with the few changes I expect to see, will probably be this week, with '05 production probably beginning in a week or two. We probably won't see a meaningful choice of '05s at most dealers before September, at the earliest.
Just my opinion.
