Electronic tollway passes

In Illinois and presumably many other states, one can buy a tollway pass to mount at the top of one's windshield in order to cruise through tollway booths in the I-Pass lane. Has anyone had experience with this and would it be okay to mount the unit on the radio antenna portion of the windshield. Am very tired of long lines to pay tolls with coins...

i have EZpass which works in NYC, PA, DE, NJ, MD, and etc. I didn't mount the
tag on the windshield...I don't go thru tolls often and it just doesn't look good on
the windshield. so I just keep it in the glove box and when I need it, I take it out and hold it on the windshield...

I mounted mine right behind the rearview mirror and have had no problems. I was told that the antenna is on the rear window anyways. I suppose the front is just a sunshield...I could be off?

Not a bad idea...

My EZPass Tag is mounted to the right of the mirror on the lower portion of that sunscreen and it works perfectly.

The best part is that you can't see it from the outside and therefore doesn't ruin the look of the car like it does on most vehicles w/o the black sunscreen.

I have mine mounted there too. It works perfectly and can't be seen from the outside, and since it is behind the mirror, it is also not visible from the driver's seat.

I'm convinced. Off to the Jewel to get one. I'm so tired of lines for the coin booths...

My NTTA TollTag is rectangular, about the size of a credit card, and about 3/16" thick. It has the fuzzy half of the Velcro mounted to it. The thickness of the TollTag + fuzzy Velcro is a perfect fit to slide between the leading edge of the headliner and the windshield. It can't be seen from the outside and unless you know where to look it isn't noticable from the interior.

They are kind of a computer case beige color so I shot mine a coat of semi-flat black just to be sure.

If I had to fish it out and hold it up to the windshield every time I wanted to use it it wouldn't be all that convenient, but that's just me.

Wait a minute--is that black screeny thing a sunscreen, or a radio antenna?

It's a sun screen, all right. Got my pass/transponder, mounted it on the sun screen an inch from the headliner and an inch from the rearview mirror post. Cannot be seen from outside. If it were painted dark gray, would be almost imperceptible inside, but didn't do that. Works like a charm, not only in I-PASS only lanes, but also in automatic and manual toll lanes. You give credit card info when first getting it, and they will keep track of tolls you pay with it, and when balance is less than $10, will automatically deduct $30 from your credit card to replenish the account. You can monitor and manage your account online. I highlyt recommend this approach. Way cool...
