Non-Navi Screen Options

I noticed this past weekend that the Non-Navi screen (aka Orange Screen) has an option phone, phone signal, mail envelope below the time and above the outside temp. I also noticed there's a rear temp fan control below the outside temp. Can anyone explain this. I'm lookin to work the phone and mail envelope.

Yeah, I've noticed those before and unfortunately no one has any good insight on those... although I do remember someone taking apart a Murano's radio/dash and finding a data port that might have been related to the phone interface? I can't remember, but there are pics floating around out there somewhere..

This guy has alot of good information and has done a bit of research. Might be a good site to bookmark.

Another "option" that isn't available that I see is it looks like there might be a way to display the temp (or heading in degrees, not just cardinals..) in the rear view mirror? When I start the car, I think I can see a deg symbol and a F or C... can't rmemeber exactly but I thought that it was odd that we only get cardinal directions where there is obviously more to the display than just two digits.

Very interesting... I'd like to have a spare radio to play with...

Anyway, according to this link: http://members.rogers.com/muran0/Connectivity.htm , the channel and artist names allow for 36 chars in the communication protocol. Is it just because XM transmits only 10 chars for each that I only get 10 chars in the display, or does the display unit truncate it to 10 chars for some reason?

Thanks

well the rear fan infor may be for the Elite package? I think these are features already planned for later 6th gens. As far as charaters, I have a CD with text that scrolls pretty far, )well if i scroll it). But I think it can only show 13 at a time. While using SAT, hit the setting (bass...display) button. See if you can scroll for more text.

One thing that bugs me, the CD text is displayed, if I hit MPG, the CD info goes away. But if I change the volume while checking MPG, the text appears when volume goes away while still displaying gas mileage! Why didn't Nissan want to display both lines of info, but it works sometimes?

Hehe, maybe they should have tested their software a bit more before deployment.

Anyway, how do you change the scrolling text for a CD?

Thanks

for CD text it never scrolls on it own. but if you hit the bass, etc ****, the first one is song title instead of bass. you can roll it to make it scroll. Sucks, they should of made it like the RDS scrolling for radio and added a scroll or stop function.

I gotta agree here, I love the Sirius radio integration, but the in-ability to scroll longer names is annoying. Another feature that would have been nice is the ability to see channel name when flipping channels and still display either artist or title once you stop (Or maybe something really radical like being able to see both at the same time via the scroll feature).

Oh well, at least the signal rocks, in fact mine doesn't even drop when I park inside our concrete parking garage at the office...Not sure how that's possible, but it's true.

In Atlanta Z93 (A FM Radio Station) was bought out or taken over by someone or something... It is now DAVEFM. And somehow, the way he/they are doing the RDS it scrolls (well did a couple of days ago) "TEST TO DAVEFM ATLANTA." 1 word at a time and the period showed up while showing the word Atlanta. Pretty interesting.

thats probably because they transmit different RDSs ever couple of seconds to make it look like its scrolling.

Is the display used onboth the Maxima and Murano?

My wife and I were looking at Muranos on Saturday. While I was seated in the back seat I remember hearing a noise that sounded like; "Oooh, it has rear air too!"

No images on his site

All the images came up ? on his site.

Any else have this problem?

I wonder if the SAT could take AUX source?

I had hoped Nissan would have been thoughtful enough to provide an AUX source in (or even front mini in) for something like an MD player (see the LCD) or iPod/Mpeg player. They sure did provide power sockets for Cellphone and/or laptop.
