Short throw shifter?

Anyone done any work to get a short throw shifter installed in their 6 speed max? I drove a manual G35 before I bought the Max, and loved the shifter. I don't know much about the mechanical difference... is it a major difference in the gearbox, or can you just swap out some minor parts? Wondering if it might make the shifting smoother too.

As far as I know, there are no short throw shifters available specifically for the 6th gen. However, it does appear that the 2005 have a shorter shift stroke. I wonder if this could be done on a 2004?
