2005 SE pics and comments here - Part II

SE Tour continued - here are more interior shots

Note that there are no holes in the leather a a LOT more gathers

Note the extra gathers in the back seat as well - the lack of the perforations at least to me takes away from the "sport" of the SE

Here are the new door panels - note the brushed aluminum triom and the polished door handle

Here are the black painted brake calipers - if I didn't know they wre supposed to be different I might have missed it...

And the sticker says...

Well - let the comments begin!! Do you all think that the interior is better?? I looked at mine and then the '05's, and as much as I like the brushed aluminum look- to me it cheapens the interior - maybe it's the beige interior color instead of the grey or black that is tainting my decisions on this one...

Ron - nice job on getting the pics.

The 05 aluminum and leather look nice, but I like the look of my 04 leather and 04 trim. I have no issue with either. I love good ol' Silverbelle just the way she is !

The painted calipers is a nice touch.

Even in the 2004 the Cafe Latte Leather didn't have the preforations. I like the calipers though I'd have to see it in person. Can't stand chrome on cars, so I could live without the new door handles. I'm going to my dealer on Monday for an oil change and I'll see the 2005 in person. I'll post more then

As I've already posted, I personally think the brushed aluminum - on the console especially - gives the interior more of a hard, metallic, cold look than before. Yeah, painted plastic isn't my all-time favorite look, either, but too much cold metal in a car interior makes it less inviting to me.

The latte leather looks good, but I wonder if all the leather is now un-perforated ... ?

wait a minute, that brushed aluminum will only be available in the SE? Will the SL still get the faux wood trim?

Are these seats the same exact size as the 04's? I'm just curious if they are more comfortable or not, which I would prefer comfort over sport.

Only thing I want off the 05's are the auto dimming side mirrors. Other than that, I am quite happy with my interior.

Just got the 05 SL and the door and the part where the cupholder is wood but the dash is brushed aluminum. Looks cool man. I did not like the chrome door handles though. It also has an extra Ac outlet right next to the shifter so you can put ur cellie. Now if no1 sits in the passenger seat the light turns on right next to the security light to tell you its turned off, its either a saftey issue or maybe a money issue. The grille is chromish now because on the 04 I had it was bronzish, I like it chrome better. I have read that the sunroof on the 04 has no wind deflector and I did not have sunroof on the 04 but on this one I do and It looks like the wind deflector is there. Thats all I notice so far havent been in it much my pops drives it. Had it for 3 days and still havent driven or took a ride in it.

O BTW I have holes in my seats

Different grille?

Now we have to order that with the alum. interior. Bet new grille won't peel like some mentioned here have. So do we try to order these parts under warranty (won't happen), or wait (and hope before 3/36) for them to get bad enough to replace under warranty, or try to buy them?

I thought I saw holes in the pics from the brochure posted earlier. Why does the caliper look 2-tone? Happy with my red brakes.

At the Nissan website (still showing 04's) the latte leather was not perferated. So this is nothing new.

Thanks Bob - I really love mine too - I just have to get past the little stuff that keeps popping up - but overall the '04 is perfect! Your calipers look hunderds of times better than the factory ones!!

Huh? Are you saying that if no one sits in the passenger seat, the 12v outlet doesn't come on? Wtf? What does the presence of a passenger have to do with the need for an accessory outlet?

Some of us "older guys" (you know, like lightonthehill and I) remember something called "naugahyde", which was a cheap plastic leather substitute widely used in the sixties. It, too, was perforated like the Max's leather, and everytime I see perforated leather, I think of that crappy plastic.

But it seems just about everyone is going to it nowadays, and I'm trying to get used to it. That latte leather in the first pix - sans holes - looks real good to me!

No now there is a light right next to the security light. It tells you if the passenger airbag is off. When someone sits on the passenger seat the light turns off which means that the airbags are on. Sorry I mistyped it.

The only '05 that my dealer has is an SE with all metal interior - perhaps Shift_ can post some pics of their '05? If not, I will continue to monitor the stock here and if an SL shows up I will post pics...

As far as the grille goes - I could not tell the difference between the '04's and the '05's sitting right next to each other - see pics here...

I can't see a difference in the aluminum trim finish, it looks the same as mine. I also have the sunroof wind deflector on my 04. Wondering if maybe some later 04's got some of these things. I don't have the chrome door handles though, which is good because I don't want them.

Exactly bro, when we went to the dealer the dealer did not know it was an 05, we looked at it thinking its an 04 and I asked him when is the 05 coming out he was like o we still did not get the papers for it like the info about the car. So we go inside after looking at the car and he looks at the vin number and goes o look its an 05 lolol.

There is a definite difference in the finish on the dash from the '05 to my '04 - there is a definite "grain" in the finsih on the '05, and my '04 is a smooth "no-grain" finish and a slightly warmer / different color. I do have the sun roof wind deflector, and my '04 is an early build (April '04) so whoever said that they don't have one should consider looking again or going back to the dealer to get one installed because they are supposed to be there...

Just returned from the dealer for an oil change. While I was waiting I went to look for the 05's. There were 2, a Red SL and a Blue SE. I looked at the 05 then went and looked at an 04. I was able to tell difference now. The new trim has like a black streaked look to it. I didn't particularly care for it, the more I stared at it the busier it seemed to get. Oh, and the seats on the SE had the holes in it. Other than that everything looked basically the same except for the new outlet and the trim on the cup holder cover area.

I checkone one out at the dealer today too. Was there for service q's and sales wasn't open yet, so I peeked in. They have so many 04s left and I found one 05 hidden among them. Mirrors say AUTO DIM on them. Leather looks exactly alike. An 04 with Caffe Latte leather was w/o holes. "Aluminum" interior looks nice, but seemed like too much of it. (Maybe I just love my Max so much, I prefer my interior). I can do w/o the chrome locks. Grilles look exactly among all the Max's line in a row, including 05. I don't like the location of the outlet. I guess you could plug somethin in and lay it in the compartment in front of the shifter. Only thing I can see it good for is if the passenger used it, but they alreay have one. I don't like the calipers. I love my red high gloss ones.

It was a smoke SE. Looks nice, but I bet scratches show just as easily as on my Onyx paint.

My 04 came with the wind deflector. I like the black paint on the calipers! Anyone know where I can get body side or side mirror turn signals for the Maxima?
