What should Stillen do???
What should Stillen do???
So - should Stillen's new non-cat-back exhaust have dual or oval tips - this might be a way to get them off their dead a$$ and get it done...What does everyone think??
I am going to call them this eve and will let you all know what they say - I am also going to point them to this poll for their consideration - but when was the last time they ever listened??
Keep your fingers crossed for something from them in the near future is all they usually say...

Here is our exhaust for the 2.5 Altima. We're thinking about doing a rear section for the 04 Max as well. It would use the same canister, but just dual canisters of course.
I could have them made in two weeks if there were 5 or more orders.
What do you guys think?

I would not be able to tell what the price is at this point. I would have to make the first prototype, and then be able to give a fair price estimate. A rough guestimate would be in the $375-$425 price range.
I have no idea what the sound levels would be like. I'd have to make it first.

Stillen makes performance products, I can't see new mufflers making to much of a difference in performance ( 1-2hp at most), but yet for the 350z, g35 coupe and sedan, they make exhausts that have great increases ( ~ 15hp/tq). But two new canasters for the max, would it be worth it?
Stillen (Jay) told me last night that Stillen Design team decided that the Max is not a sports car but more of a luxury car, so with that in mind they decided not to produce the Cat-Back that they had developed as their prototype - but opted for a back section design with canisters with tip options - currently oval or dual (maybe) - so with the exception of some bling on the back end - I wouldn't expect large h/p gains - but the sound could be nice if done well, and that's more interesting to me than any great h/p gain - I got that already with the Berk Intake - right Coby??
Thanks for the answer Coby..
So in all honesty it looks like the best solution for now would be hope Berk decides to do the rear and then at some point in the near future have the rest either custom made or see if some company is willing to just make the remaining section. I do like the look of the system on that Altima above and think that would look pretty good on the Max..
Having Ovals makes me feel like I should be driving a Civic or something

To all in this thread - and especially Coby - I had a friend do a chop on the back of my car with the proposed Berk rear section exhaust using the cans from the Altima in Coby's post - what do you all think??

Looks pretty good - eh?? Now if I could only hear it...LOL

HEY!! Nice looking photoshop!!! I ordered up the mufflers already and I'm looking for a test car at the moment. I have one in mind but I can't get a hold of him at the moment.

Thanks to all that voted - will forward this poll to Stillen and see what they have to say - so far have not heard a word from them - but Coby is working on a system for us so will wait and see what he comes out with...thanks again for your votes!
My opinion, they should first make it affordable, look close to stock, and a bit more aggressive than the stock, bit deeper. Fact of the matter, the stock one flows pretty well. Any custom exhaust shop can do wonders for you a bit cheaper than something with a pretty badge. Changing the entire system, new headers, new catback, intake....all adds up. Hey, call me cheap, but I still like bang for the buck. Just sounding fast and menacing, to me is not worth dropping down tons of bucks for things....at least until I see a worthwhile dyno test. You guys have to know what I mean. Hell, even on my BMW.....you should see what my 3 series wanted for a nice Einselman or AC Schnitzer exhaust that.....for the money and HP bang for the buck.....give me a break.
I called Stillen this evening (28 Sep 04). The rear section mufflers for the 04/05 Max will be available next week. No price has been announced and they will not have dual tips. They will look like the exhaust on the 3.5 Altima, stainless steel. I assume this means 4" round reverse cone tips. They might even be Magnaflow mufflers with the Stillen name engraved on the tips.

dual, make it look close to stock, more performance and shiney, they should also offer a complete header back option.
