SkyView Replacement Question

I went to the dealer this week for other warranty work and ended up telling them about this replacement program by Nissan. He had no clue about it until I came in. Now he has ordered the parts to replace my SkyView.

My question of those who've had this work done: Should I be the first SkyView that my dealer replaces? Or should I wait and let them get some experience doing this work on other Maximas? Thanks for any help you can provide on this question. I am inclined to not be the first.

You are correct to be inclined that way.

Received my safety recall notice (skyview roof) yesterday (9-10-04) through mail. I will call one of the dealer and make an appointment. They will not automatically replace your roof. They will inspect it first and replace it if required according to the recall notice.

Just look at the dots around the "CARLEX" name located at the driver's side rear corner of the Skyview Glass. This is to confirm whether the Skyview Glass needs to be replaced.

Hey thanks for the info, ocuihs! You know what really ****es me off?!! My manufacture date is Sep 2003, but the freaking "dots" are the same as shown in the freaking example... What did Nissan do, use old glass that was laying around for the newly produced cars that were manufacured "out of the window" of badly cured skyviews??? This ticks me off... Now I have to get the glass replaced...taking the risk of getting my car scratched up (my MAX is black) and having a **** poor job done replacing it, and ALSO wondering if the next time it rains, will my roof leak!!!

overall, the dealers that I dealt with were superb, no problems with scratches and/or leakage so far.

Dude, w/ all that you've done w/ the car already, you should take this opportunity to just get a new grille! It would look so much more appealing w/ a new "smile"!!!

hof,
Just waiting to find one that I like (no billet for me) Might as well get a new stock grill for now since it's free...I want a more designed grill something like the G35 grill...
Maybe like this shop job by Stealth Interceptor

Made an appointment (9-18-04) to have my skyview roof check. This morning, 9-18-04, I went to the dealer to have my skyview inspected and replaced. The service advisor told me they haven't done any skyview replacement and they do not have the parts. I asked the female service advisor about scheduling me to bring my car, 9-18-04 and now they don't have the parts. I will e mail the Nissan Hq's and complain about my experience.

I was in for an oil change and had them inspect the skyview, since I fell into the correct numbers he said he's have to order it (7-10 days) You would assume they would have them in stock, especially since they just sent out a recall notice!!! I asked him and he said he has done a few already, so that made me feel better, I'll post results as soon as I get it done...
