got a few questions.
one thing is, i have been hearing alot bout the struts acting shady. tho mine havent been knocking at all, i hear that nissan will be supplying part for/from 2005 MAXes such as better struts. i was thinkin, should i just go for it and just say that its acting funny and get the 05 struts when they come out?
second thing, is do you think i could get the dealer to replace some of the panels to my dash (the panel with the cd slot and tape deck), cuz i got some scratches, as well as the 5spd panel around the shifter...
umm, yall really cant blame me, i mean cmon, dont we all just want whats best for our MAX....

All this has been discussed thoroughly. Just warning you before you catch hell from others tired of reposts. There is a wealth of info here; you are almost expected to read through all the old threads before posting. Ideally, we should all donate and then search. I've notice quite a few new members recently posting a lot of old questions. Although I may have done the same, plus our 6th G forum always stays at 6 pages, so a lot are unavailable to us?
Anyway, you can ask you dealer anything. But if they don't notice anything wrong with the struts (broken), they will turn you away until Nissan says to replace all. As for the trim, the 04 is just about unavailable and the 05 is different. Some have replaced the shift plate (same 04 & 05), which mean replacing the whole unit and will scratch again. A lot pursued swapping the interior for 05, but haven't seen any successes on here.

well, anyways. thanx for the info. does anyone have pics of the new interior?

SoloSL203 - You asked for pics of the 'new interior'. With the 'SL' in your handle, I'm guessing you are referring to the '05 SL. There is no visual difference in the '04 and '05 SL interiors, other than the addition of another 12V outlet on top of the console at the right front corner. Nissan says the '05 leather is softer, but that would not show up in a photo.
As for differences in the '04 and '05 SEs, the only visual difference (besides the additional 12V outlet) is the '05s have a mottled look (NOT a 'brushed aluminum' look) on the metal surfaces on top of the console (except for the round piece at the base of the shift stick, which is unchanged) and the face of the dash. Supposedly more scratch resistant.
edit - as per my 'mea culpa' thread, the '05 SL has the same woodwork, but the surrounding metal is now the same mottled/brushed look as the '05 SE. My mistake.

MaxMus - That is right. The SLs have the wood finish in those areas, and that is unchanged for '05. My wife and I parked our '04 SL right beside an '05 SL (the first one to arrive at my dealer) back in the first week of August, opened the doors on both cars, and, in twenty minutes of comparing, found the only diff was the additional 12V outlet on the '05.
I was not surprised, as the scratching problem on the '04s was worse on the SE than the SL, and the woodwork is a primary feature on the SL. I have nary a scratch or nick on my SL woorwork. Wouldn't change a thing.
