I just use regular car shampoo and washing mitt. I rinse with the hose. I don't cover anything but do not blast water directly into your alternator. Other than that, you should be okay.

I then use 303 Spray to protect rubber.vinyl, etc......

Here's what it looks like when done:

Good luck with yours

I need to clean mine, but have always been afraid of mixing water in with the engine compartment (ie, not drenching the alternator, shorting battery, etc).

So you just use regular car wash shampoo, hose, and some elbow grease to clean the bay? And you didn't cover anything at all? How long did you wait to turn the engine over after you did this? Stupid questions I guess.....but I'm new......and hella afraid of messing up the engine bay recklessly. Thanks for the tips.

This is to be done on a totally "cold" motor (like sitting overnight). I use regular caqr soap and lcen the body part and the black plasric trim. Stay away from flooding your alternator, but other than that i just spray away. I also place a towel or a plastic bag over my aftermarket air filter.

Then i dry everythnig with a chamois and microfiber cloth.

You can start it up after a few minutes.

You know, cleaning the engine bay seems to be a "pain in the a$$"!!! I've asked around and it seems that I get varying opinions... Using "Dawn" was even suggested @ one point, as a degreaser... Please, if there's a very reliable, non-intrusive way of cleaning up your engine, someone chime in!!!

You supposed to turn the car on right away after washing and turn the heat up.
The propose is use the radiator fan to blow dry the engine using heat, wind. To prevent rust spot in tight spot. I would leave the hood 1/2 inch open ( before you push the hood lock). Leave the engine running 15-20 min or when dry/you also can drive around with hood closed.
