Quick Q? Checked FAQ's & no answer...
Also looked through the Fluids & Lubricants board, but not much luck...
The wife has a 6th Gen, and she wants me to change her oil tomorrow, now I'm happy doing this on a 4th Gen, but can't seem to find any details on how much oil to use for her '04... I'd also like to know what kind of filter I should get...
I'm thinking 5w30 will be ok, but would like to confim with one of you guys... I'm also guessing the procedure is much the same as the 4th?
Thanks in advance for any info or help

but the W in 5W-30 means it's made for winter also. I just don't see why many think they need to change the viscosity with weather. that's why we don't use just 30 (summer) or 5(winter) anymore. the W guarantees it's for Winter. All seaon oil works fine. Now, if you're driving in the polar regions....
btw, if you can't look it up, we use 1 gallon, and 1 cup. or 4.25 quarts. if you wanna convert that to metric, sorry, I'm American, therefore metric handicapped.

The 0W30 oil lets the car start easier. And seems to warm up a bit quicker as well. We get temperatures down to -40C (which is -40F as well for those metrically challenged folks).
I never knew the "w" stood for winter use. Interesting.

so is -40C so damn cold it converts to -40F also? I just remember 0C and 32 F. and would have to look up the conversion if really needed. (sad b/c i'm a teacher, but always valued research to memorizing.)
