I do want one, but there probably isnt a demand for one. Post here if you do and if the post gets enough replys we could tell the company and show em that there is interest. Jack up the post count!!

Ok, I know I'm gonna be the envy of all the 6 speed drivers our there, but I got a short shifter installed today! I was a test fit and I was done in about 30 minutes. All work was done under the hood, so there are no modifications from the passenger compartment. The shifter still sits high as a result, but the throw is about 35% shorter. Best of all, it totally eliminates the shifting problems in the 6th gen! No more notchy shift feel, grinding from 1st to 2nd, etc. I haven't driven my car yet with a cold transmission, so I'm gonna have to wait until tomorrow morning to find out for sure. This is by far the best mod you can do for a 6 speed 6th gen. Thanks you, Company Man!

Nice. Only 30 minutes. So is it a DIY type of install that can be done in a garage or is it a little more complicated than that? Can you tell us what exactly gets installed to upgrade to the STS?

It's a pretty easy install. You remove the midpipe, then you'll have access to the cable driven transmission. What is added is a linkage that'll shorten the shift throw. I didn't do the install myself, but I was there to watch the entire process. Pretty straight forward. If I'm not mistaken it's the same STS as the 04-05 Altima. You may want to PM Company Man (at the top of this post) for more info.

The company I dealt with is a machine shop that manufactures some parts for Nismo. I don't know who will actually be selling the STS. Youmay want to PM Company Man for more info. Looks like your Max has pretty much the same mods as mine. I'm curious to see how you do at the track. Let me know after the meet as to how well you you performed.

Me too, Boss. Even though I'm Nasty(meaning very good) with this shifter, I'll be the nastiest(meaning the best) with the sts.

Cut your stock one if you want it shorter. The purpose of a short shifter is to shorten the throw, some companys shorten the shifter and its just an added bonus.

HP is the dealer, I'm the manufacturer. The first post were I said to call HP was with the idea that alot of you wanted a STS. After seeing how few of you wanted a STS, Andy at HP and I decided that I would sell them direct to you to keep the cost down. If you want them, great. Otherwise this is a one shot deal, because I can't set up $250K worth of equipment and lose a whole lot of time just to make another 15 short shifters. It makes them too expensive.

Sorry if I'm behind the curve a bit.
You're planning a group deal or what? Have you set a price? Are they no longer available on eBay?
Is the unit cost so high you can't afford to crank out a hundred or so and sell them over the next year or so? We're talking about the minority of 6th gen cars that have manual x-mission, read maxima.org, and have logged in here over the last 10 days or so and read this thread. That's a fairly obscure little group.

I redesigned and CNC'ed 20 STS for the 10 to 15 guys who said they wanted it for the gen 6.0 Max. I can't build a 100 of them and then just sit on them, sorry. Normally I wholesale through dealers, but because there were so few who wanted the gen 6.0 STS, i thought i'ld sell em myself to keep the end cost down. Big mistake on my part, what a hassle, never again.

Since you normally sell through dealers, if I ordered this and had my dealer install, do you believe they would warranty the work?

LOL, J, I knew someone would say that!! I have been mulling a short shifter over for a while, but havent come to any conclusions. I looked up Company Man and came across this thread from before I even joined this forum. I wish someone could figure out how to shorten the shift lever on a manual tranny but keep the reverse lockout intact.

This is something Taz could possibly invent.... but I took mine apart, there is a lot of crap in there that would need to be removed.

From what I understand, the reverse lockout creates problems, but not problems that cant be overcome. It just takes some creativity and time.

The Axxtion Gen 2 55mm Short Throw Shifter is in stock. It evolved from the Axxtion Gen 1 and the new STS that I developed for the Altima SER guys where i had to change the cable mounting position and at the same time center up the shifting pattern. The new centering adapter for the Altima SER also fits the Spec V and Maxima, so i have discontinued the in console centering adapter because i can use this new one for both and save on inventory and manufacturing. Both the Centering Adapter and the Tranny Adapter now fit under the hood. Nothing gets installed inside the console so it works with all reverse lockout shifters. The instructions are complete and easy to comprehend. The Centering Adapter has one bolt and the Tranny Adapter has one clip. That's it. Because of this new design, Axxtion now offers the shortest throw of any competitors STS that is mounted under the hood.
