Auto/tiptronics???
Just wondering for the guys that use the gear box, precisely tiptronics... if you leave it say in 2nd @ 55mph ready for instant accleration/no lag, in few secs..... is it bad to have it gear like that at say 3500 4000rpm? burned up tranny fluid/stressed tranny? any side effects?
details please!
thanks.

If you leave it in 2nd @55mph in extended periods, you're creating excessive heat. That heat in turn will eventually lead up to transmission failure.
3,500 rpm cruising would for extended periods also puts a tax on the engine internals as well as the cooling system.

i keep the RPM as low as possible except for once in awhile when i need some gratification of pulling ahead of the pack at a red light testing the 6.5 0-60 or need to pass someone easily.
Just "downshift" (in manual mode) as low as it will go and hit the pedal. Then you can upshift as it climbs to around 6k or let it redline and auto-upshift for you. From a stop you can just leave it in manual and watch it upshift for you.
No need to leave it in a low gear to be ready. just reduce gears when you are ready.
tranny is "fool-proof" and will not let you go low enough to truly redline, or high enough to stall. but always keeping in lower gears will eventually cause unnecessary strain/damage.
