Having grill painted body color

I just bought a spare 04' grill off of ebay and I am going to have it painted my body color (pearl white) Althought I am going to have this done at a professional paint shop, is there any surface prep. that I should make sure happens, for the paint to properly adhere to the grill?

Hopefully they will do surface prep if they are a good shop

Make sure you show pics. I think painting the grill is a great idea if you dont want to replace the grill. I am considering the Sarona grill if i ever get my Sarona kit shipped

ask different shops for opinions/quotes. whoever sounds most capable/reasonable have them assure it will last or they will repaint under some kind of warranty.

I would assume they are going to do a nice wet-sanding job to it before they paint it.

I know for a fact that there is a clear coat over the chrome on the stock grill. For the paint to properly adhere, this clear coat should be sanded off and the chrome scuffed up before priming.

Seriously! Post pics. I do not like any of the aftermarket grills. I would love to see that and maybe consider painting mine!

I think if I dont get the Sarona grill or mesh grill, that I will paint mine black to match my car. Not sure what I want to do about the logo up front - either leave it chrome, or paint it as well.
