I was wondering if any of you are using the K&N air filter for the 05 Maxima?

I have used them on many of my older cars abd they always performed well. However on the newer MAF type systems there are those who feel the residue from the oil in the filter may harm the sensitive systems. Anyone have any insight on using these filters with the new Maximas?

dab it with a dry papertowel on both sides before installing... any remaining residue will eventually dry off due to the constant air rushing though the MAF

I have the K & N drop in filter in my 04 Maxima and so far no problems, this filter was the same one that I removed from my 2001 and put into the 04. I also have the same filter in my 04 Pathfinder and again no problems.

I have one for when the time comes for the oem to be replaced. I just like the feature of cleaning and not buing anymore. Although in my OLD car, K&N killed my MAF and later o2 sensors, I'm sure the Max can handle it.

They don't list 2005 as an option. Will the 2004 work?

Pedro,

The Airaid technology looks awesome! How does it work? How do you clean it? I may buy one!

They have around two extras layer of cotton gauze plus a layer of their Synthaflow product. One thing I do know well since purchasing mine. It is built way better then the others and you don't see daylight through the filter, which means it filters and flows well. I had mine on my Max for over 3000 miles and have no complaints. They have their own cleaning kit and oil. Now I have to get one for the wifes Eclipse Spyder GT. I purchase mine from the following dealer:
