Sad Day! *Car Accident PICS*

The day started off pretty well for me. I detailed the car this morning, ready for another beautiful Saturday drive with the Maxima. Just 5 minutes from the house, Im driving down a residential area (speed limit of course) when a teenager in his moms Jeep Wrangler decideds to back out of his driveway with no kind of care at all. I try to swerve to miss, but still, BANG! Damnit tell me this is a dream. My 2 year old daughter in the back was fine, snug in her carseat. My sister law decided to ride in the backseat also with my daughter which is a good thing. She got her leg a little bruised from hitting the rear center console. Other than that everybody is all good. Turns out I spun the Jeep a whole 180 degrees. Teen gets a ticket for "failure to yield". His parents were outside and witnessed the whole thing. I was being nosey and overheard them asking the cops why I wasnt getting a ticket? Idiots! For what? A lot of damage was done. I know for sure the axle is a lost cause. Passenger door wont open. I also noticed inside the car where the shifter is, the center console was misaligned like it moved up a bit. Im thinking transmission damage. A very bad day for me. Ill find out the extent of the damage on Monday. Yes I was NOT at fault and Yes his insurance company is paying for all damages...more info later.

Oh wow. That brings a tear to my eye, your max was one of my favorites. At least no one was hurt, but i know how it feels to have your baby bruised up like that. Best of luck with that.

Sorry about your Max. That hurts to look at. I've had a couple of accidents with previous cars. I was worried about how they would be after repairs. I used a reputable body shop and the cars felt, looked and drove the same after repairs. So you should be okay.

Good luck with it.

I am very sorry for your accident. It was hard to look at those pics!

I own an Onyx Max as well and I couldn't bear to look. Hope your lawyer can get you something though with no bodily injury you may just get repairs and hopefully the deductible and your expenses. Best of luck with it.

Sorry to hear about this. Seeing that fender makes me cringe. Glad to hear your daughter escaped any major injuries. Sure she's shaken a bit but all good. Hope it all works out and keep us updated.

Sorry to hear that.....glad everyone else is OK.....I hope the damage is not as servere.....yea, I liked your Max too. It's things like this that make me keep my Max plain. I hate to see someone's hard work at hooking things up get destroyed at the hands of someone's careless actions. I had my Galant (hooked up REAL nice....) only to be destroyed by a stolen car in a head on collision.....

Its funny too cuz after the police got the report of what happened they all started complimenting my car and how much they love the new Max's. They asked how much do they usually cost and told me how much he loved my Max with the rims, etc. I was happy to answer to theyre questions but damn I was still in shock from accident! Its all good though, thanks for all the comments guys. Hope everything works out fine when the repairs are finished...which I highly doubt for some reason.

Blax - Be SURE to make a claim for "Diminished Value" or "Reduced Market Value" (it goes by different names) from the insurance company if your state allows for it. It is the amount by which your car's value is affected by having been wrecked, EVEN IF IT IS REPAIRED PERFECTLY.

People will be able to find out (via carfax and other services) that the car has been wrecked and repaired, and it will be worth less as a result. The insurance company probably won't just offer you this - you'll have to demand it, and don't let them act like they don't know what it is. It is part of the damages you have sustained because of their policyholder's negligence, and you deserve the payment.

I had a wreck a few years ago in a new 2001 BMW 540i with less than 10,000 miles on it, and I got a check for $5,500 IN ADDITION to the repair costs.

Hey man, Glad to hear U R all OK as for the Max, Sorry about U'r Max which was right up there in my fav's. I hope you can get it fixed. Up here in the Great White North ( Montreal, Canada ) We have replacement value insurance. The insurance company can write off your car if the repairs cost more than the car's current depreciated value. You should look into this...maybe you can come out ahead with a brand new '05 SE.....Good luck!

Wow sorry to hear about the accident but glad everyone is ok. I hope everything works out for you. In addition i didnt even know I would be able to claim a diminished value. Does anyone know what is the latest I can ask for this? Reason is because my Max was hit around Oct and just curious if it is too late to claim for diminished value.

Thx

You can have an appraiser take a look at your vehicle. Similiar to what your insurance company is going to do, they will eventually have one of their people take a look at your vehicle and make the determinations on value. You can also use the estimate with repair parts listing from the repair shop and give that to an appraiser, they are usually able to determine loss of value from that. Have you thought of persueing a Diminished Value Claim? I have had two accidents in a three month time frame (not at fault for either). The odd thing is, both times...my vehicle resembled yours after the crash. So what i did not learn the first time with dealing with my insurance, i learned the second time.

I used Collisionclaims.com when i had my vehicle appraised. Really knowledgeable, and helpful.

And I am sorry that happened to your Max man. Hope things work out for the best.
