I think I may do it. I have to drop my car off to Progress this Tuesday to prototype rear sway bar and springs. I may do the headlights next SUnday when i have some free time and no kids. I need some encouragment. I would like to see MORE photoshop pics of black Max with blacked our chrome headlight trim. Maybe show different angles. Also, Im trying to figure out how to do the orange blinker. Any ideas about that or any thing else??

Dues,
I would talk to mattattax (post #24) He seems to know some 02-03 guys that have pulled open their headlight assemblies. Maybe he can help or at least direct you down the right path... I'll work on some photoshops!!!

Try photoshopping a black max with blacked ouit lights, with NO HOOD SCOOP, and maybe a stock or painted stock grill. I would appreciate it.

That's for the DRL that our 6th Gen Bretheren up north (Canada) get to light up. There are threads here on whether it's legal to light it up here or not on the board, so for now, you either paint it out or leave it lens with no light.

You are correct. Here's what it looks like with the DRL on:

I want my DRL's to work, anybody thought to tackle this project??
I don't see why it would be illegal 04SEelite, every GM car in the US has DRL's...

Ok, I have a destroyed headlight, actually 2 of them bought from a salvage yard. This is what the DRL look like:

There is a covering on US Headlights.

if you remove that outside tab (my Xacto knife was NOT cutting!) There is another covering

Plus then you will need to make a hole in that other white plastic area, and then secure the bulb with a socket so it wont bounce around, and then run wires to make the lights light up...

Unless you still want to give it a try, but I think it will be too much to do. It will probably be easier to buy a Candian headlight!

What is the purpose of those extra lights? What does DRL stand for? Is it worth the cost to change over?

Daytime Running Light is correct.
And if it was an easy mod I'd do it. I would just feel safer driving around (especially in so cal) during the day. When I bought my 97 Chevy truck it had DRL's and I noticed a lot less people pulling out in front of me and changing lanes close to me etc...

cant you just put your headlights on in the day? thats what I do. I shine the HID at them day & night! (yes the lights will burn out quicker, but IMO, its easier to replace them then run a mod like that)

Deus, check out the 5th gen FAQs. Housecor has a whole write up on clearing the amber blinker lens. Would be much the same process for you 6th gen guys. Go to Home Depot and for less than $10 buy the "Malibu" lens it will be in the flood light section. After you pop your amber one out, lay it on the Malibu and trace around it, then just cut it with a dremel. While you have your lights apart, you can scuff, prime and paint the inside of your housings. I'm gonna do it on my 5.5 gen but just waiting to save enough $$ for the DDE angel eyes to do at the same time.

Good luck and make sure you post pics when your done.

Yes you need to change to an amber bulb...check out the lighting section of the forum or you can check ebay for LEDs...there's tons of options including a chrome bulb that lights amber...personally i'm going with the LEDs and the little attrachment that keeps them from blinking fast. The amber reflector should pop right out, then place it on the malibu lens i told you about a few posts ago, trace it and then cut it with a dremel, if you do it right and take your time, it will mount directly in place of the amber one.
