This seems like a good thread to do some venting..
I ALWAYS park away from everyone...and the car is pretty much flawless at 31k. Every now and then I say eh, nothings gonna happen, theres room here. Well I pulled into a really small Starbucks lot today and gave myself a good amt of room next to an old lumina sedan, and there was a spot nex tto me. So as im stirring my coffee ready to leave a silver RAV-4 pulled in...then an obease 20 something came into starbucks. I get outside to see her car 2 feet from mine...and 4 feet from the other car. OF COURSE theres a 3" line on my pass. door right under the handle and slightly above the molding. I was furious at myself mostly, and for her ignorant far azz not careing and using my car as a F*!&ing door prop. Looked liek it could be rubbed out so I took it home, rubbed it out nearly 100%..but theres still a very very vague imperfection only noticeable in bright light from a certain angle if you are squatting down. Im satisfied with it I guess..not calling for any dent removal because it is really that minor. But this goes to show...if you really care about your ride...it only takes once..
Anyone else have dents that only you see? This is the 2nd time Ive had an extremely minor dent...last one was worse so I had it removed...this one is where I draw the line and forget about it

I've noticed the same thing on a couple of maximas i've seen around my area to...does anyone have an idea about how much it would cost to repair and paint these bumpers?..its a kinda sore sight to see it on such a beautiful car...
rear bumpers
Like many of you, We've had problems with scratches on the rear bumpers. The bumper guards look like a great idea. However, it seems to me that Nissan has some reponsibility to come up with a finish for the bumpers that's a bit more resistant to damage. I means, they're not called "bumpers" for nothing! As careful as the driver is, the slighest bump or brush by another vehicle can leave a mark.
Jack - I couldn't agree with you more. At the rate my rear bumper is collecting scratches (got another one this week) I'll have to budget for a paint job every year if I want to keep the car looking somewhat decent. These bumpers are just scratch collectors.

I still haven't had any scratches on my rear bumper... not yet. Have any of you guys installed that alarm thingy that works as a sonar so that you know how far the bumper is from something else when you are backing up? Sorry I used a whole phrase, but cut me some slack, I'm puerto rican, and living in Puerto Rico. English is my second language, but I don't think I'm that bad at it... And so you know, we're ranked the happiest people on the world!!!

I brought them at Bay Ridge Nissan on 65th and 5th Ave. PEP Boys might have them. What good is a sensor when other drivers are screwing up your car. In PR you don't park like here in New York. I go to PR a few times a year to see my brother and you guys including my brother park any where there is a opening.lol Later Warren
the bumper finish?
I've had my 05 SL about four months now and have just over 10K miles. When I washed the car the other day I noticed that the front bumper has several small chip marks in it. The issue for me is not that the front bumper shouldn't get marks in it, I know that some damage from road gravel and the like is inevitable. That said, either the finish on the bumper or the bumper material itself (it is the finish, I suspect), is such that it leaves more marks than other cars I have had. My last car had over 100K miles, and when I traded it in, I don't think it had as many marks on it as my Maxima, which I have had less than four months.
