Dynamat Extreme

Anyone Dynamat'ed their whole 6th Gen. yet? I am looking at buying a Dynamat Extreme Bulk Pak and doing my whole interior including my trunk except for the roof. I was told that the roof liner was a booger to remove because of the curtain airbags and the sunroof etc. I was wondering if anyone else had sound proofed with Dynamat and what their idea of the sound dampening at highway speeds were obtained? Otherwords are you happy with the cost/benefit ratio?

Thanks in advance,

JP

I dynamated the trunk of my 88 honda prelude, back in the days when i had it :-( miss that car. But IMHO i dont think its worth to dynamat the ENTIRE car, unless your going for competitions and ish like that. I say just dynamat the trunk lid, bolt down your LP and dynamat the rear deck panel. Ull be satisfied with the sound. I used to work at Circuit City doing car audio installs and i know whats up :-p

I am putting a system in my car but my main objective is to cut down on road noise some at 70+ MPH. I had the door panel off of my Mom's Park Avenue and GM uses a product that is very similar to Dynamat Exteme to sound dampen their luxury cars. I have covered the inside of my Tivo unit in my bedroom to quiet the Tivo's hard drive and I've always Dynamated my car doors a little when I installed speakers but have never done the entire trunk, floorpan and entire inner surface of doors. If it works as good as it does on the Tivo unit, it should definitely help. I just wish I had access to a dB meter to measure before and after results.

for best results every inch of the car has to be covered. Ive dynamated doors and it made no difference. The only difference i noticed was when i covered my trunk, and that was the hollow parts.

Dude, Dynamat Xtreme is a BIG waste of money; you should look into sound deadening from Cascade Audio or Second Skin Audio.

If you REALLY want to go high-end, a single layer of Luxury Liner from Second Skin Audio will rival, if not beat, the acoustical deadening found in the 500-class MBs.

I installed dynomat in the most obvious places in my trunk. I am still having a rattle issue with my new sub. I fixed the 3rd brake light problem, but the rattle is still coming from beneath the back dash (bad).

Metal Maxima, I think I'll take a look at the Luxury Liner you mentioned.

www.bquiet.com/ also has some very good products. I did up my last car with 4 layers in each door and two in the trunk. I used their Brown Bread product. It made a huge diiference in the doors. Really improved my midbass response. I did two layers on the inner door skin and two layers against the outer door itself. Lots of work, lots of cuts on my hands...but very satisfying results.

Yeah, I've read that gloves are recommended. I think some thin calf-skin fingerless gloves would be the ticket for door work. I Dynamated my Tivo unit and all of the metal inside of it was razor sharp. Four of my knuckles had cuts on them.
Dynamat makes other products than the Exteme, like the Extremeliner but I am not sold on any one product yet. I think I may go with one layer of Dyn. Ext. with another layer of Extremeliner on top of it. I think the rear fenderwells inside the cabin may do well with this combo too. As for the trunk and other areas, I will probably just go with Extreme. Cascade makes good products but I would have to see hard numbers comparing it with Dynamat Extreme.
