jinsatx - My wife prefers that I not look to see whether the UNC cheerleaders still paint their fannies Carolina blue.

brewboy13 - Speaking of my wife, she has her BS and MS (both in math) from Auburn, and we wear the orange and blue whenever we are down around Toomer's Corner on the 'loveliest village on the plains'. War Eagle!

I passed by my dealer today, and found two '05 Maximas on which he had applied pinstripes. Black pins on a silver SL did not look all that bad. After looking closely and thinking about things, I feel pinstripes may be less offensive on the SL than on the SE. Something about the nature of the SE suggests a clean-cut appearance.

I also decided NO pinstripe would look right on an onyx Maxima. Im not sure I would like pins on any dark Maxima. I would have to think carefully before adding them to coral sand or white, although the sand and silver probably would look OK with carefully chosen pins. But not 'terrapin red' pins, jinsatx.

Well frankly, it is in the eye of the beholder. It's obvious that the result is a unanimous no to the pinstriping, but as "Light" states "if he was forced" he's pinstripe his Max with Tarheel colors. In that case, I'm going with PSU's ('77 grad) uniforms on my '04 Winter Frost.

Oops! There will be no blue pinstripe on the white! Just the black tires (shoes)!

I had a roll of dark blue stripe in my house for the longest time. When the weather got nice I tool it outside and held it up to the car. The color was a slight bit darker than my blue paint. I looked at the car for about 20 minuets and I could find no way to make it look good on that car. I striped cars for years back in the day. The cars of today just don't have the lines for pinstriping. Two tone, sold colors, or fat stripes only. It's a good thing I didn't do that for a living.

It's a long story. I wouldn't want to put anything on my Max. But need to hide some imperfection after a repair. I put this on:

I didn't want anything that stands out too much. I bought different colors and asked my wife and daughters for their inputs before putting it on. It's nice IMO. It softens the macho image a bit which I wanna keep. Buy the ladies of the house kinda like it either way. My two daughters gave a thumd-up, it's "cool" -they said.

Man this is real weird, I completely forgot about the pinstipe on my 04 red op. maxima. Its black and it came factory, its very small and I dont think it takes away from the car. I honestly didnt even notice it until I actually read through this thread. weird...

One other detail - Pinstriping looks a little better when it is used to parallel or accent an existing break/crease in the body.

The 6th gen does not have a crease/break in the area a pinstripe would normally be placed. As a result, the pinstripe on the 6th gen sort of 'floats' on a sea of blank metal which is not 'aligned' with the stripe itself.

If I were a dealer, I would not be putting pinstripes on any unsold 6th gen Maxima. I would offer to put them on free as one of the incentives for a customer to buy the car. That way, the stripes and labor are not wasted on someone who doesn't want them, and the dealer has a relatively cheap buyer incentive 'add-on' for those who like the stripes.
