Engine management light

So I was puttin in me Frankinstine short intake to my modified airbox , this fine evening and of course being the dummy that I am and after checking everthing else. I left off the lead to the air flow mass sensor and started her up.. Runs wonderful after I pluged it back in but of course the engine management light has come on and will not go off... ( Yes I disconnected the battery for like 1 hour)

Anybody know how to reset the light or do I have to visit me dealer .. Car drives perfect and sound fantastic... (I really don't need the lecture from my dealership about modification.)

I have checked the stickies ....

Yes I am dumb ... but got a little excited ...

Gentlemen your esteemed assistance would be great.

I'm pretty sure you have to go to the dealer to have them reset it. Sh&t happens, we've all done it...

it just went away for some people, the mass sensor has to get used to the intake...

you can wait it out or go to the dealer..... they usually do it for free but might give you **** about the intake and charge you labor........... not sure..

Very strange

An extensive search or the .org shows threads to reset the engine management light and codes for every generation except the 6th, very strange ...

Must need some plug in diagnostic computer or something ....hey

Yes I felt very dumb after reading about some other guy who did the same thing and put all the original gear back in and took it to a dealer to reset .. had a bit a chuckle about it , then go and do the self same thing to myself ..who's laughing now ... ( forgetting to plug the AMS back in before starting it up) ...Duh...

Just wait it out if you dont get it fixed. My girls light was on in her 02 for a few days after she got it back from the bodyshop.

When you unplugged the battery did you just unplugg the positive terminal or both? I know in a lot of cars that the codes will usually reset if you pull the negative terminal.

Positive only

I only unpluged the + , but I cannot see how removing both would help , when the positive circut is gone .. all is dead and as such removing the negative is of no value ..

I have decided to wait out the week and see what happens..

I shall post some pictures soon of the modified standard airbox with K&N Panel filter and the new F short induction pipe .. I did not go down the pod airfilter route as they are technically illegal in our country. All airfilters must be covered & I thought by the time you cover it , may as well just modify the stock box and use a panel filter...
