Which Color Neons for the Interior?
Wuts up fellow maxers!
As much of you probably know i have the Smoke 6th gen with the grey carpet interior and i was thinking of adding interior neons to make the interior glow.
Since the dash lights are orange and the needles are red, orange being the dominant color in the car. Which color neons should i get? Orange or Red?
Keep in mind i dont want a ricey look, i just want it to look suttle and give a hint that there is something going on inside the cabin, when people pass by.

Nothing subtle about neon... and you can't go much ricer than that, but it's your car... ![Smilie](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I changed all of my interior lights to LEDs and it looks much nicer. You might wanna consider going that route instead. Look around for that post from sparq for pictures and the part numbers...

Orange. You could mask off part of the neon tube to reduce the brightness. Too bright and you start to turn your car into a rice steamer.
On my last car I had 2 LED's in each footwell. And one in each door pocket to light up the front. It was very subtle. And if I left them on all night they wouldn't drain the battery.

I used have blue as my lighting under the dashboard... i connected it to the fuse panel for the front power socket so it comes on when i turn the key... i used blue because blue is the color on the opposite side of the color wheel from orange.. heres pix:

So thats how u spell "subtle" i figured suttle was spelled wrong.
Back to the topic, i had blue neons in my 88 honda prelude, and i hid the lights underneath the dash also connected to a switch so i can turn them on and off whenever i wanted. I plan to do the same with the max, but im still contemplating on where to put the switch.
My supervisor installed red neons in his car and it was very very very subtle. It looked very nice and non ricey.
Thats a nice install Roshan, looks good but IMO i think there is too much orange in the car to mix with blue. Keep the thread alive i want to do this "mod" ASAP

I have a blue theme going on my car so I went w/ blue interior & blue underbody. As for yours, from what I'm thinking, probably red might be the best way to go. Orange can be a little bright & might not be as easy to blend in w/ the interior. I would say go w/ the color that is more evident and tape off like someone else said. Post pics when you do.

alot of people have been telling me read, so i think imma go with the red. Especially after lOoking at my supervisors red neons, in his car it came out real nice.
I didnt consider blue becuase thats a color that everyone has, and it wouldnt go with the dash lights. Black lights would be nice, but a bit pricey, and inorder for those to work "good" people gotta be where white :-\
But thanks to the 6 that voted and to those that replied in this thread. I will probably do this "mod/upgrade" within the middle of next week. Just check up on my cardomain webpage and sign that damn guest bOOk...please :-D

With a smoke colored car, I don't think neons would be a good option. But if you decide to install them, there should be 2 different options : orange or purple. Orange will blend-in real nice with the info console, and remember that the lights that lit on the door when you open it are red, so that would create a nice contrast. Red would just make it too bright.
Purple would be my choice. It is a color closer on the spectrum to our car's smoke outside, and would be more "subtle" if that's a priority. I think that purple or orange would almost look stock, and you'll have people asking if this is a factory option. Oh and even though some people have done it, you have to keep a theme going in the whole car. Don't put in Neons with a wood kit (SL). That would just look like a 60 year old man on mid-life crisis....

Led
Buy led's not neons drains less on your batterey are 10 times brighter and are revitivley unbreakable when you crack the housing to a neon the chemical that is in the inside escaped and you get a weird colo out of it i had red underbodies on mycar and they went a light pink kind of fruity looking lol!!
All I have on my car now is liteglow led's in my fenders grill inside my car and under lets just say i am ready for christmas!!

yeah i agree with jsmithsole, why don't you put up a "no lights" option, it's your car but i have the feeling not too many people here would put interior lights in their maximas which is probably why no one is voting,
no disrespect intended,
