oem Sirius SAT redesign Problems?
I recent bought a New 05 Maxima the first week of April with the Sirius satellite receiver. I had Sirius in my 01 Maxima as a aftermarket add on. I decided to get the integrated box so it would look better and use the steering controls.
Well the dealer (stealer ship) ship took 4 weeks to get the box in. I found out that as of April 1 2005 Clarion / Nissan decide to re-design the box and put it on indefinite back order. I finally got the call May 2 that the box came in and got the dealership to install the sat receiver. I activated the box with Sirius that night (note the box come with aprox 6 channels already active 1,15,20,101,136,184). After I activated the box I was able to get 14 channel total (1,15, 20,21,31,40,64,71,80,101,105,107,136 & 184) I tried over the next few days with Sirius to try and re-active the box, yes I have verified that the ESN is correct. Sirius is able to send a re-set to the box and I can see it but I can NOT get the box to update it channel line-up.
I took the car back to the dealership that weekend and after hours of explaining that Sirius offer more than 14 channels (130 + channels). They were confused and had to wait till Monday when their tec lines were open. Well needless to say it has been almost a month and after many phone calls and trip to the dealership they are confused and have order another box (I HOPE).
My question is has anybody had a Sirius Sat receiver installed in their 05 Maxima after April when the new box was starting shipping. I was told the first new boxes came out around the end of April. With my many calls to Sirius they have said they have had allot of trouble downloading to the Clarion/Nissan Satellite Receiver for Nissan.
If you had any luck or know anything about this let me know
Thanks

I believe I have the old version Sirius receiver, I purchased mine in early March.
Curious though to know what the improvements are on the new one?
Would love to have it store favorite 20 songs like the aftermarket plug & plays do. Also would like it to have smaller font size display so that you could read more of title - and - have it display detail info without pushing "tune" **** every time you start car.
Any of these items included in new version.
Hope the dealer gets this working for you. I've not had any problems with my version.

The easy fix would be to have the dealer swap out for an XM unit. That's what I have and love it, but I digress, there are enough XM vs. Sirius posts out there. As for font size, that is limited by factory display and has everything to do with Nissan.

I am ver dissapointed with the oem sat and its lack of ability to scroll and diplay multipe lines of text. I have the roadys in my non maxima and it performs much better than the oem radio i have. Also i wish the navi displaye dmore info like in the acura. Honda has much better navi all together
