WHATS worth it for intakes?

i know people have gone thru this and this has been talked bout alot but i wanted to know if its really worth getting the most expensive INJEN vs mid price STILLEN vs cheappest BERK TECH....

what do u guys think??i kinda guess that the injen will do most gain and will sound most aggressive..but how much difference will it be? and i heard people lost some HP after intakes? on dyno? well help me make up my mind plz..

I dont know about other intakes, but the injen sounds great. My bro in law has it on his 6th gen, and Ramberg has it as well, and I heard both of theirs, and it sounds great. I have one sitting in my basement waiting to be installed.

I like the Injen. It growls and adds some HP.

Just my opinion...Cheaper the better.
Gains are minimal, but you'll get good sound and looks.

Its not too difficult. I think the hardest part is getting the air filter on. Remove the tire completely if possible and you should be fine. Taking apart the stock system can be painstackingly frustrating. But a note of help, most the pieces are plugs so just pull away.

For what its worth, ive been satisfied with my Stillen intake.

The sounds is fantastic....revving up over 3,000 rpm, but as for HP increase, not really anything. Just the sweet sound of the V6 roaring.....

Oh, and the install was VERY easy, it was my first hands on mod, piece of cake.

Injen Good

I have had the Injen CAI on my car for over a year and have not had any problems with it. I have driven through torrential down pours and never sucked up a drop. The placement of the air cleaner (tucked in the fender well) keeps it amazingly clean. And because the air is picked up outside the engine compartment, the Injen is a true Cold Air Intake.

The Injen is a quality mod, worth it for the awesome sound alone!

Check out this tread. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ighlight=injen There is a fix in the tread and chernmax sent this tread to Injen. Chernmax came up with the fix. He fixed mine and I have not had any problems. Later Warren

At this site they say you get a peak gain of 16.1 whp and t gain 18.1 is this http://www.autocarparts.com/part/633/96 and is it worth the money?

Got the stillen because it doesn't require messing with the midpipe. I'm not mechanically inclined like most on this website and even I got the thing installed in 20 minutes. Can't say I noticed any gains, but I rarely floor it anyway, I got it for the sound. Pretty sweet. Good install instructions from Stillen too.

Hey guys I am new to this Forum I have an 04 Maxima and I plan on doing small mods. I have allot of experience with modding cars!! I have a 03 Tuscani from Korea( pretty much the same as Tiburon) I have done quite a few mods with it. I plan on getting a CAI and it will be Injen. They are a truste name and there products rock!! I definitely think a CAI is the best mod for the money you can do to a car!!

It's definietly a worthwhile mod.......I had a Injen intake on my other car (2000 Galant) and it was great....no issue with it at all. I have it on my 04 Max it is very good, I notice some gains, but it seems like the car drivers smoother and shift much better......I say if you do this, invest in a Y pipe down the road, becasue now that the car is getting alot more air, the stock pipe is not going to be able to give the air a proper flow, creating back pressure.....

When they install the pipe the cat will be gone. My car is due for a inspection in Sept. and it only for safety. Next year I will do the swap back to the OEM pipe. Hopefully I will be living in florida by than. Later Warren

So since I live in California how do I get around all the crap surrounding smog tests and all? I can't get a y-pipe installed or I'll fail smog. So what can i do?

If you want a y-pipe really bad, just swap it out with the OEM pipe before the test. Thats what I am going to do. But that will be in Sept '06. Later Warren

I don't know what model that they are using. This will be my first time going there. There used a Mustang Dynamometer on my first dyno. What is the difference? Later Warren

Typically they(different dynos) give different readings relative to each other (Mustang Dyno vs Dynojet on teh same day same time same conditions) reason I ask which one you'll be using is because most people on the org use Dynojet.

So you are saying Dynojet is better. As far as I know most ppl with Maximas and Z's in the NYC area go to Performance Motorsport. They deal mainly with Nissan cars. The driver of the worlds fastest Z does the dynos. The club I belong to nycmaximas.org is having a dyno day there soon. Later Warren

Couldn't wait any longer, so bought the Weapon R Secret Weapon intake on ebay for about $210.00. Will let you guys know how it is as soon as I get it and will post some pics. I read a ton of reviews on it and seems like it may be one of the best short ram/cold air intakes out there! I don't know exactly if it's really a short ram or cold air but my guess somewhere in between because Weapon R claims it to be a cold air. Can't wait to get it installed and test it out.

a few (49) reviews. It has its ups and downs. seems that people who never had an intake say its great, and people who have had intakes say its not all that hype. http://www.carreview.com/Intakes-Fil...x.aspx#reviews

Hold on a sec, that's not even a Weapon R Secret Weapon intake and those reviews are 2-3 years old from another intake. The Secret Weapon didn't even come out till earlier this year.
