Quote Steve from SCO: Hmm it should be 02-03 only, I know they have yet to be tested on an 04. He also said they have backorders from April.

Yeah they DO NOT make 04 headers yet. I have spoke to cattman, hotshot and ss autochrome and nobody offeres them YET. Cattman will soon but expect to pay 800+ for a set.

$800

Did you happen to catch if they will be CARB certified or will they be, as is nornally the case, "for offroad use only"?

It'll be tough to pry that kind of cash from my pocket unless they can be left on the car during the inspection as I have a feeling that getting them on will be a bit of a pain!

Help me understand what this part does. It looks like it splits the exhaust up right after the manifold. The straight pipe goes to a resonator? and then the muffler. Where does the bent portion go?

Headers bolt directly to your heads on the exhaust port side. They funnel gases to the cat and on out.

Back in the day before we had catalytic converters, you had "long tube" headers, but today most everything is "shorty" style.

These can (depending on their design) improve performance be reducing back pressure. The thing is, most exhaust manifolds (what headers replace) aren't as good at scavenging exhaust from the cylinders as a well designed header.

Does that make sense?

BTW, to get a GREAT look at what old style headers looked like, just google for "GT40 Bundle of Snakes" and look at the pictures of a raised engine bay hood.

Well Brian told me they would cost more because they would contain the main cat so I assume they will be street legal.

If that's the case then, depending on how the dyno results look, it's time to start buttering up my financial advisor (my wife)!

Dudes, another web site making the fatal mistake of getting the numbers wrong. Yes the site does say 02-04, however I did a search of the site and what they should say is fits 02-03 up too a 5.5 gen. Almost every item on their listing for an 04 will then show you a picture of a 5.5 gen with the part installed. Sooooooooooo, NO HEADERS FOR 6TH GEN'S AT THIS TIME...
