5TH Gen drove a 6th Gen... wow

I drove a 6th gen last night. It was the graphite color and fully loaded with navi. All I have to say is wow. 10x better feeling than my 2000 se with 132k on it. Clutch felt nice. I am jealous.

watch it, you'll be shunned from the 5th gen forum

that's why i probably won't test drive newer cars unless one day I have the means for a second car. But driving lesser cars is always a plus to reappreciate your ride. Now go test drive a sentra or someone's older car to feel better.

I drove an early 80's diesel mercedes for a few days (with 150k+) 5 years ago...when I got into my 96 taurus GL It felt like a It had 1000Hp....I agree its always nice to drive something lesser to make you appreciate what you got.

I know what you mean about the feel of the new Maxima. I bought mine in January and I still feel excited about it everytime I get into it. Can't say that for many cars I have owned over the years and it is definately one heck of a nice car for sure.

I had a 96 GXE manual with 178,000 miles on it. The following is the list of problems I had:

1) Air conditioner electronic component (in passenger side area) at 110,000
2) Clutch master cylinder 1t 160,000
3) Starter at 175,000 (almost made it!)

In large part because of the great luck I had, I purchased an 05 SE 6 speed in February.

Well, my mom owned an auto 04 se fully loaded, so I got to drive that all the time (she has 350 track edition now) But the 6 speed is so much nicer. The only thing I like more about my car is my retrofit HIDs; otherwise it is 10x better. As far as being shunned from the 5th gen forum, I didn't know it was a high school popularity contest. I wish I had a 6th gen.

Oh c'mon both these models are pretty reliable overall...there are alot of people like me who have had no major issues aside of a couple minor things fixed under warrenty. My aunt has a high mileage 4th gen with no problems and I knew of a kid with a 3rd gen with over 250,000mi..My taurus's motor threw a rod at 90k, think about that when you crucify a maxima over minor stuff.

look who you're talking to, we were busting each other. you should know i'm always up to bat to make that point for the 04. My everyday struggle is to help owners appreciate what they got for $30k and not to expect what the $60+ ones have to offer.
If Maxima didn't stand for reliability I wouldn't of even considered one.

I did the opposite. Went down to FL to drive a car a friend bought back up to Atl. It was an '00 Audi S4 with a crap load of aftermarket stuff. 270hp/350tq to the (4) wheels on his dyno last month. I fell in love with that quattro when it was pouring down rain half the way back home. Then I had to come back to my fwd...

After a couple weeks, everything was just fine again. I refuse to drive his car now.

Well, looks like we got our cars the same day!! I traded My 03 Silverado SS AWD for my new Maxima. Love the truck but hated the 10MPG. Very Impressed so far the only thing I don't like too much is the Torque steer, Got me by surprise the first time, but I guess I am ready for it now By the way Hello from the newbe! Looks like a nice place to learn and mod my car.

Thanks to everybody for the nice welcome, I already seen some nice grills in here!! they look awsome. I Thought the factory grille looked good until I saw some of you guys/Gals grilles. I will have to get my credit cards paid off soon so I can start moding. I forgot to mention that this is my first import car in 15 years, they have come a long way since the 80's, and also my first nissan in my life. Peace out guys!!Thanks again

I can relate to 05Max6SPD, I traded in my '01 Dodge Ram 5.9L 4X4, and I also loved the truck and what it could do/haul, but I hated filling up the 26gal tank every 4-5 days... 9 to 11 MPG. I will miss NOT having to dig out during a 21" snow storm, and how the flowmaster exhaust would set off most car alarms, but that's a small price to pay for owning such a quick, sexy ride. I test drove the '05 Impala, Bonneville, G35X, Altima SE-R and something by Madza. My MAX kind of reminds me of the '88 Chevy IROC-Z W/5.9L I owned during my '89-'91 tour of duty in Germany. The "Z" had a top speed of 158mph, and so far I've only had 'blue Max' up to 130mph (had to back off because I ran out of road). This is my first import EVER and I LOVE this car. I find myself making up reasons just to drive somewhere/anywhere, I'm sooooo glad I didn't buy the Bonneville. Could someone tell me how to post photos or pics on this site because I'm lost when it comes to computers. I have a bunch of pics I took with my old 35MM saved on a disc and some with my wifes digital camera. By the way, GREAT site and did I say... I LOVE that car. Tell my wife we ran out of coffee and I'll be back in an hour or two. Nisssan has the REAL"ZOOOOOM ZOOOOOM"
blueavalanche@comcast.net Was this too long for a newbie??

Well, I was trying to trade my silverado SS for about 5 months for an 04 Pontiac GTO but all the american dealers were not giving me what I wanted so I went to the nissan dealer and they were giving about 4K more than any american dealer would, ohh well I guess Import it is!! My wife still has her 00 Camaro and I cant wait to line it up with it. What do you guys think? do I have a chance against this american muscle car? I think I can I would keep you guys posted on it though

Not against an SS, but should do well against an auto Z28.

I work for a Nissan dealership, and IMO the 5th gen, at least an '03 is a completly different car, no better, no worse, I feel the 5th gen is allot more sporty, while the 04s are far more lux then the 03s, Glacier Pearl is allot nicer then Artic Frost....the Bose in the 6thgen is 1,234,423,153,003 times better then the '03 Bose..a dead heat in pros vs. cons, but like i said, very different cars.....but the 6th gens do have I.R.S.

That was something I noticed pretty quickly too. It still doesn't have quite as much thump as I'd like but that's what aftermarket subs are for.

Hey 05max6spd, If your wife has the SS Camaro... FORGET ABOUT IT. I had the 5.7L w/4sp auto, and I could smoke the tires just by thinking about it. Now that's one car I DO MISS. If Chevy brings back the Z-28, (with a 60's retro look) I'll be the first in line. I should go outside and see what kind of burnout 255lb of torque will give me... if it were RWD. My only mods so far are window tinting and an after market spoiler or wing, as my wife calls it. Still trying to post pics.
