Bose stereo question

I have a 2005 SE with Bose stereo with 6 cd in-dash cnager.
If anybody took a Bose stereo apart, I need to know if there is a way to remove
just the tape deck. I am planning on removing it and making a cutout in a center console for a single din aftermarket gps like Pioneer Avic-N2.

Thanks in advance.

the tape deck is one piece with the 6 disc cd player... so if one goes they both go..

yea the amp for the subs are under the rear deck in between the two subs... you will need to take the panel off to get to them.. with the panel on you won't be able to see them..

six clips will drop that panel and its stuck on with velcro.. simple but I recommend a door panel remover tool for this job or you will risk breaking the clips..

If you are going to install the N2 you won't need the cd player. Are you going to change the speakers and amp? I have the after market console kit and wire harness. If you would like to buy them let me know. I just have to find them in my closet. If you need pictures let me know and I will post them. Later Warren

I don't think I will change the amp and speakers. I had Avic N-1 in my Infiniti with bose and all I did is bought a pre-amp adapter. Worked out pretty good. The speakers sound much better with the aftermarket system than with original one.

This is the one I got when I replaced Infiniti Bose. It will probably work with 6 Gen also. Don't quote me on that though. I haven't double checked yet.

A picture of the after market console kit for use for the N2 and other setups. If you are interested PM me. I can't find the harness. Later Warren

The panels in the 05s have a different finish on the plastic than the 04s. So, using that part would cause a mismatch.

Does the non-bose system have subs in the rear? If not what is back there, 6x9s and an amp or just 6x9s no amp at all? How hard would it be to buy the amp from the dealer, along with the subs and install with system that did not come that way?

According to Crutchfield, there are a couple of 6x9s back there in the non-Bose ones. Honestly, if I were in your position I would look into redoing the car using completly aftermarket equipment. Trying to do a Bose retrofit would probably be expensive to the point of not being worth it due to the fact that you will be buying specialized equipment. Also, the wiring for the Bose is surely different so that is another obstacle.

I agree whole-heartedly, all or nothing.

On a '02 Maxima bose system, when adding a aftermarket amp, can I tap into the subwoofer wires to convert to RCA's ( and which wires are those ) or do I have to by an adapter ( where could this be purchased) ?

they are 8" subs back there... the whole system is about 320 watts, divide that by 8 and you get 40w for each speaker...

this is a usefull thread:

you should look into the "PAC-SWIX" adapter or go to your local audio shop and ask for a hi/lo adapter...

the pac is the most expensive at about 50 bucks and the hi/lo goes for under 20..
