change both struts at the same time?

not only is this the 6th day in the last 2 weeks my car has been at this nissan dealer, but its been through two others dealers who just kept F'ing me around, for a total of about 10 days....

okay im calm again - my question, before i hurt someone at the service dept...

when you change a bad strut at 35,000 miles..... you should do both left and right regardless of the coniditon of the other strut correct? (the other ones bad anyway i can hear it still)

they only changed one, same old *** knocking around strut on the other side

according to my service adviser (and there's an old thread about it) Nissan issued an e-mail to all dealers to replace BOTH struts if one is bad. It was not a TSB, but rather some type of internal communication.

If you want, im me and i'll tell you my dealer and adviser and you can call them yourself and get the details

thats good to know.....

but regardless, independant of maximas and nissan and whatever...... isn't it standard procedure to not change JUST ONE at such high mileage, due to the variation in wear between them, the one thats 35,000 miles used doesnt do nearly as good of a job as the brand new one

lol, i hear ya

about six months ago, I took my max b/c i heard knocking sound from the rear
suspension when i go over speed bump or deep ramp.
although i told them that i heard it from the back, they're so sure that
the front struts making the sound and they replaced the front struts.
and...the knocking sound was still there.

so yesterday, i took my max to the other dealer (b/c i'm away from home),
and they said they could now figure out what makes the noise, and told me
bring back later.

they were kinda blaming it on the Stillen sway bar, so i cut off and told them
the sound was there before the Stillen sway bar was installed. (which is true).
I hope they replaces rear struts.

You and I both know that struts are just like brakes... You are supposed to cahnge both sides if there is a problem! I know that you are approaching the 36,000 mile point and your dealership is probably trying to brush you off, but this is what I want you to tell them... "You're gonna fix my car and I'm not gonna give you another F^@*ing penny." No, seriously, don't do that! If all else fails, dial 1-800-NISSAN-1. I am willing to bet that both struts will be replaced and you won't have any more issues with your dealership!

The Stillen Sway Bar is on solid and will not cause that problem. It has to be the shocks in the rear. (struts are only in the front)

Put stock sway bar back on if they are going to be d1cks about it. Since sway bar is a part of the suspension, they might use that reason to not honor warranty.

Your dealer can change both struts at the same time. They do have to get approval first, but they can do it. I have had mine replaced.

My right strut was not sounding or feeling right and they ordered both struts for me. They will be put on next week. No questions asked.
