To Those With Stock Grills...

I have a painted stock grill on my 04 and just noticed something interesting. The stock grill is mounted by several "tabs" on the bottom to secure it in place. I just noticed my grill was loose so I checked to see what's up and all my "tabs" ripped through the little loops that hold them in place. I have a feeling this is quite common with stock grills, so if you have a stock grill, could you check to see if yours is loose as well? I have approximately 15K miles on mine and noticed this just recently.

Nothing loose yet. Milage 6666 and that no joke. I was shocked when I saw it.

funny you bring this up Edify. I just saw dealer today since i felt some play in my 2nd grille (also had TSB for G box and ordered chrome strips). They told me it's installed fine and needs a lil play.
Good idea to "keep tabs" on it though. If they're breaking, that's no good. It has to last until I can afford my Redline kit and possibly Active grille.

Only 1800 miles on mine. The bottom of the grill has a small amount of play but the top edge is solid. I didn't pull too hard but it feels like it is not going to come loose without a significant tug.

I suggest you go to the dealer and get it fixed. Its under warranty.

What does the paint have to do with broken loops? My grill has be taken out and put back in and the have not broken. This has to be a material defect paint or no paint. There is no harm in trying. Later Warren

It's definitely worth a shot, but as NismoMax80 said: they might try and not honor your warranty on that part because it was painted.
The problem is that they "might" try to blame it on YOU even if it's not your fault because most people remove the stock grill when trying to paint it...

Warren, it was sarcasm. but SL got the point, you touch it you void it according to many dealers. "you must have over-torqued them. you don't know the correct torque do yuh? well then, no warranty for you!" (more sarcasm) but even if they say that, Nissan backs their decisions unless you have solid proof saying otherwise.

I agree, it could be a 50/50 shot, the paint did not break the part, however they may claim the owner damaged it during the removal or re-installation process (that can be proven by the fact it was painted) This one is like splitting hairs, I would definitely try as ramberg indicated because at this point, you have nothing to loose, good luck...
