Difference in Ypipe Length? (4speed auto/5speed auto)
Difference in Ypipe Length? (4speed auto/5speed auto)
I am currently trying to install a Ypipe which I received which is for a Automatic 2004-2005 Maxima. Before I start, however, I would like to ask if there is any length issues that I will face because of the variation in transmissions that Nissan has swiched through in the past 2yrs of production.

Alright, Just talked to Greg at Custom Enterprise and he let me know that there is a difference between the 4speed/5speed/6speed.. the difference is that the 4speed auto which came in the 2004SL uses the same ypipe as the 6spd transmission, and the new 5speed auto in the 2005 models uses the automatic ypipe that he carries. Strange but that is how it was explained to me. Hope that gives you a solution to your problem.
That last post by gtr-rider is essentially the same thing I seem to recall.
All 6 speed manual SEs and 4 speed auto trannys used in the SLs between Jan 2003 and Feb 6th 2004 use one type 'Y' pipe, while the 5 speed auto trannys used in the SEs and all SLs built after Feb 6th 2004 (includes 5 months of '04 SLs and all '05 SLs) use another length 'Y' pipe.
