Coilover?

Well I was looking to get some coilovers and I've seen that Ksport and the D2 has some that fit the 6 gen. What do ya'll know about the D2? It seems like no one has these. What are your experiences with the Ksport? Please list both pros and cons

I have engaged in extensive conversation with people in this industry, and Ill share my thoughts on the coilover situation. The coilovers u mention are imported from Taiwan. I have heard nightmares regarding these and I consider them an unreasonable risk to purchase until something more dependable comes along. There is a danger in losing money as demonstrated by a group buy on the org that turned into an international investigation of a fraudster who stole over $20,000 of deposits. There is a danger of these parts not performing as expected, with no recourse except to toss them out and get new ones, if available. I know a few guys who have successfully used these albeit a they have onyl installed them recently.

I tried to talk an unnamed person into producing these, but the problem is that people are wooed by $700 group deals on Taiwanese products, instead of stepping to the plate and spending $1200 for a quality product. I know the $500 difference is a lot of dough for most people. But in the long run, buying a quality product for a quality car, the Maxima, is cheaper. If ur plunking down $25-35,000 for a Maxima, I dont think $1200 for coilovers is unreasonable.

I was hot on ordering the D2's a while back(actually me Tek and AKA were) but we found out they had problems and they weren't fitting correctly. Now this might have been fixed but I know that Tek got the Ksports and he's totally happy with them. I just ordered mine and should have them next week.

You might want to call Tein and see if their's are ready yet. They've been working on their SuperStreets for the 6th gen for a while now.

"a group buy on the org that turned into an international investigation of a fraudster who stole over $20,000 of deposits."

Really? So theres a group guys on here who were screwed out of a total of $20,000 and have not seen restitution? This must have been before I registered?

Tein has it listed on their site:
NISSAN Maxima
A34 04+ BASIC DSP38-LUAS2
$990.00 8/448
http://www.tein.com/nissan.html

It doesn't show an application for the EDFC though...at least not yet.

I was looking at the Ksport (which is a Japanese company along with Tein)website and they seem pretty legit to me.(reaction to your post above) The Tein stuff is all made overseas as well (Japan, Yokohama City KANAGAWA to be exact) And the Ksport stuff share the same manufacturing plant with HKS, JIC, and several other brands, although in Taiwan.

Also on they're site it says:
"All warranty work and replacement parts will be serviced in the United States, creating no-hassle support for customers."
I know it's just words on a page but I feel reassured after your post scared me into thinking "Oh no what did I get myself into now!!!"

Here's their site as well:

I don't mine spending 1200 dollars but I want to see the product first. One as*hole screws eveyone and I don't blame anyone for not wanting to lay out any money.

yup i spoke to the shop i always go to and they'll sell them to me installed for 1000 bucks out the door. he is selling me the kit for like 800 bucks and the rest is labor. pretty cheap in my opinion but the only thing that holds me back is that it is the basic kit which only controls height not the dampening and thats what i want the most is to able able to control the dampening of the coilovers specifically in the rear because of the new sound system i just put in. total its about 300 to 350 lbs. of stereo equipment. i ghetto rigged it for now and put spring locks on the rear stock springs because it was rubbing on my 22's, but the shop said he spoke to the guy in l.a. where they distribute tien products to the entire u.s. and said there is only limited quantity available for now until the demand becomes greater for our cars. also the kit that is available for our cars right now will raise and lower all around about 2 to 3 inches. i am gonna call the shop back tomorow and ask him if he can find out if tein will eventually make a dampening kit for our cars. i'll keep you guys posted.

I don't know much about coilovers or the EDFC so this may be a stupid question. I looked at the instructions for the EDFC and I don't see how it would work on our vehicle. I can see how the front motors could mount to the top of the coilovers once they are mounted on the car but the way our rear shocks mount seems to prohibit putting a motor on top of a coilover once it is mounted in that location. Of course, all of this is contingent on Tien offering a coilover with dampening adjustment.

Ed - Have you considered the KYB AGX shocks that Active Tuning offers for our cars? They have adjustable dampening and might meet your needs. At least for now.

No problem. I'm glad I could help. It looks like Tek answered your questions. Active Tuning is great. Give Dave there a shout. He's a good guy.
