Hooking up driving lights for my new bumper, need some help!!!

Ok I started to run the wiring for my new PIAA P-9000 driving lights that will go in my new bumper. I've never done this before and I have a couple of questions.
1) 1st it says to run the switch wire for the lights off the "bright" headlamp wire. Is this a hot wire? Or would that mean the driving lights would only be able to be turned on when my brights are on? (seems odd) I tested the wire and I only got a reading with my brights on (probably answered my own question there)
2)And since the lights are switched and I want to be able to have just the driving lights on without the headlights (not for driving but just to be custom, you guys know what I mean!!) should I avoid running off any of the headlamp wires? I would assume I need to find a live wire for it to run how I want, correct?
3)Where else should I go for constant power, directly to the battery?

I also had to hook up the "halo" LED ring. I hooked them up to the parking lights since they aren't switched. It said you could hook them up to the blinkers but I don't think I want blinking "halos" every time I turn.

And to keep in the cornering light tradition I bought a 6 led light bar that I will mount under the bumper on the corners and just hook them up to the old cornering light wire. We'll see how it looks.

Any help on the above questions would be much appreciated!!!
Thanks crew!
J

All you need to worry about is the switch itself. PIAA has several install options. Normally driving/fog lights are on only with headlights, I did it with parking light on my other car. You can tap into any accessory source that aren't constantly on, just in case you left them on.

BTW, pics......

easiest way: connect lights together then run positive to a switch-switch to battery. then negative to any ground.

yea don't splice them to a wire thats a constant 12v or you will have to turn them off manually even with the car off..

find a wire that is on when the ignition is on so that they turn off when the car does..

save some wire and hook them up together like Nismo said..

good luck Jay..

Any direction on a wire to tap into would be great.
Would my amp power wire work?
And what if I do tap into the brights would that give me what I want?
(being able to turn the lights on solo and have them go off when the ignition is off)
Thanks for the help guys, I plan on finishing up when I get home from work...

the REM on the amp won't work since it only gets power when the radio on on... I would use a test light and poke around for a wire around the headlights or so..

If you haven't done it already, see if you can tap in from the fuse box.

i tired that for my unfinished alarm. those mini-fuses are a PITA to tap, otherwise I would have suggested it. I searched everywhere for taps, then went to an audio store. he gave me some, but their worthless. all i wad to show were bloody fingers.

I'd hate to cut a wire though. If I did, I'd go with the Park lights. it's just a matter of locating them.

maybe someone can find an empty/extra fuse slot to use somehow?

Well didn't get to it lastnight, I plan to finish this evening...
PIAA provided good taps for the the install, I haven't cut any wires. So all I need to power now is the switch to turn the lights on and off. I already tapped the p lights for the LED halo ring that this light comes with that was the easy part.
I'll test some more wires tonight and find what works best.
Thanks guys!!

I'll try to get wiring diagram for 6th gen from a friend of mine, by next week. He works for an electronic gadget company, he should have one on hand.

I got everything hooked up today and ready for install on Wed.
So my "halos" will turn on with my parking lights.
I ended up hooking the switch for the driving lights to the parking lights as well, that way they will turn off with the timer and all the other lights. The only thing is that I won't be able to run just the driving lights solo. But I figured I wouldn't hardly ever do that anyways...thanks for the hlep guys!
