I tried to follow the convoluted sequence necessary to obtain the discrepancy the complainer in the referenced post did, but found it not to be a very natural one.
All I know is that my wife and I take turns driving our '04 SL. We use the memory switch every time we change drivers, and it works perfectly for us. The seats, steering wheel and mirrors all move when and as expected.
I personally have some doubt that one discrepancy of such a convoluted nature would be considered by most drivers as justification for returning a vehicle. I feel there may have been something left unsaid.
We have driven our '04 SL for fifteen months, and took it in only two times for warranty work. The first time was to fix the seat latch lock between the right rear seat and the trunk (very minor), install a longer rubber nipple in the upper left corner of the glove box door frame (purely cosmetic), lower the low beam on the HIDs (they were in specs; we just wanted them lower), and to stop the roof leak that was flooding the driver side footwell when the car was left sharply slanted to the left side in heavy rain (our only major problem).
Everything but the roof leak was fixed first trip, but they were unable to recreate the roof leak (at that time we did not know that a sharp left slant was involved). I examined the power sunroof drainage system, put water in the drain holes, found the left side drain tube was blocked, and on our second trip for warranty work, the dealer fixed it in less than an hour.
That was in January, and our car has been absolutely flawless since. We love everything about this car, and, knowing it is now perfect, we would not trade it even-up for any $50K vehicle. Even for the Infiniti M.

I'm not sure exactly what the individual in the autoweek forum is complaining about. I know I bought my 05 SL just over a month ago- put 3K miles on it already and its a dream car.. I love it..
and regarding the mirrors, seats and steering wheel, me and my fiance each have our own setting's on 1 and 2 and it works great and I love how it returns to a 'stock' mode when you turn the car off.. and the mirrors always are properly set when I hit the 1 button for my memory.. and I love how they fold in..
maybe I didn't read it correctly but I did not understand that person's complaint exactly.
Love My Max!

Is it just me or do people not understand that anything that is man made and electrical will/can mess up, and malfunction from time to time. I do understand that sometimes they are real issues that need deal attention, but 90% of the physo babble b/s is just because people do not have a hobby or a car that is as good as the Maxima/Nissan quality.
If you see an ollllllld truck driving down the road it will either be an old school yota or a nissan --- this rubbish is a waste -- i can't beleive that i am even entertaining this.
The person that posted this probably heard other people making claims on the 6th gen. max and decided to hop on the ban wagon -- trying to get something for nothing.

depends. if no one else rolls outta HBG, probably not. also Tilley wants me to go to the track Sat. if so, then probably not. also, bro wants me to celebrate his 23rd Sat night, if so... I see a pattern that doesn't look too good. If the dyno afterward would be finalized (doubtful) I'd be more inclined to make it.
So far, so good, even great!
I have not had any problems with my Maxima other than the exhaust bracket rattle that was taken care of promptly by the dealership.
The car has done very well for me. I would recommend it to others who want a sporty sedan with decent performance, lots of features ("near luxury) and good interior room.
A car is metal, plastic, and rubber. It has a lot of moving parts and performs in a variety of tough conditions (potholes, gravel roads, etc.). Frankly, I find it gratifying that vehicles do as well as they do. It is easy to get accustomed to things and take them for granted. I am grateful to be able to drive a car such as the Maxima.
