2 degrees of seperation

I have seen a thread or 2 on Advancing BDC or base timining by a couple of degrees. But no clear definative on whether it was done or not.

I only use the highest octane 98 in mine so as it is due for it's 20k service next week I am going to ask the dealer to advance it by at least 2 degrees maybe more if they will be happy to do it . ( I am assuming, they will not tell me to get stuffed and refuse to do it)

With all the mods to the exhust and intake it can only improve things.

Now has anybody actually done it yet and how far did they go in the advancement ??

I should also recieve my newest mod additions to fit next week a UR pulley , am trying to source the other Air con & power Steer Pulley so that I have a nice custom set. Nismo Front end stabiliser bar as well as a Stillen tower brace.

Nismomax80 also gets 2 stars for pointing out a good bloke in the way of drilled brake rotors in one of the general theads, as Jason was the only guy willing to get off is A$$ and organise sending a set to OZ...

I had it done at the dealer. You just need to find a mechanic up there who will do it on the side and you can throw him a little cash or something. it seems to give the car better throttle response but I cant really say if it gained any power.

happy to hear mate. It'd be nice to receive a rep point for that, but I'm not sure it would get noticed among my -1006 points

Lucky guy, I'd get all Nismo parts. Us Yankees have some hope now that the intake is out.

as far as advance timing, ol' school opinion told me not to mess with it, but 2 deg. should be the most. did you see the other threads? I beleive some 5th genners were discussing it.

Got the front stabiliser off Courtsey Nissan , they normally only sell the Nismo ones as a Pair but they broke a set for me. However my bus uses a front bar from the Altima and the Rear from a Maxima ...very weird....

I have it done (17degrees) on my VQ30 5th gen. Soonerfan also got his done to 17deg at the same time on his VQ35 5.5th gen. For me it provided increased throttle response, smoother idle, and no knocking/pinging (I always use Shell V-Power).

I don't think Jason (soonerfan) saw as noticeable results as I did, though.....
