I Just love my Maxima

This is why I just love my Maxima:

The shimmy, my guys at the dealership turned my Rotors three times and last week put on new Rotors.........Still has the shimmy

At 7,000 miles they tell me they found all these "funny" cuts on the interior sidewalls and will replace the tires

My headliner has fallen no less than five times

Max has been in four times because the driver's outside door handle sticks

Nav unit replaced twice

Now at 14,000 miles I need the Rotors done again and my tires have slits again

Yup, great $32,000 rig

I think that you have a lemon and you should call the 800 number. You should have a lemon law in your state. PPL have had problems with their Maximas, but it seems that you have all kinds of problems.
I only had messed up tires and that happened when I had 36,000 miles on the car.

Let me know what happens.

there's no cause for lemon.
tires = goodyear problem.
rotors = continued crappy nissan rotor problem.
(both of which wear items)

headliner, door handle and nav, inconveinces.

None of which affect the function of the car.
tires= I (and others) had goodyear replace with other brand.
rotors = continue to swap or upgrade (AutoMax_95 groupdeal)

Yes, all SUCK, but research the major problems of other 30k+ cars.

This member car was brought back by Nissan because of shimmy.

I always wondered why your called them "treads"

sorry i missed Philly as well (caught up on A LOT of missed sleep). but glad I went to the track instead Sat. spring, i'll be there.

Yeah the shimmy sucks, I feel your pain. I went throught he same thing and tried the lemon law. I even went to the dealer and test drove a new one and the shimmy was there. Then all of a sudden it stopped, how I don't know. I think i stopped being really picky. It's a shame because the car is so awesoem but those kind of problems made me hate it. I had some other issues too. Trans, rattles, shimmy, tires, rims, brakes, window regulators, sunroof, radio, you name it. My cousin has an SE also and the car is unbelievable. No issues at all. Just the luck of the bunch I guess.

I was driving my Max yesterday on the highway and just couldn't get enough of it. The ride has been great since they got rid of my shimmy, I couldn't be happier.

RAMBERG what problem did you have with your tires,,i have a sl with continental tires and they seem to be dryrotting between the tread and the sidewall had the car in for a noise that sounded like a brake or rotor problem(sounded like sandpaper rubbing the suface of the rotor when the tire hit a certain spot as it rotated) the tech checked with the techline for nissan an they told him to fill the tires to 50psi ,,sure enough the sound went away,,he brought it back down to 33psi the sound came back,,,leading the tech to believe the tires are defective at 21,150 miles,,,check this out they want me to pay for new tires at $155.00 a piece if i want the same tire...i had to call nissan1,, now i am waiting for a response from them!!!!!

I guess my point was that a $32,000 plus buggy should not be so buggy!! The shimmy sucks, the tire issue sucks, and all the other issues suck but I am a diehard maxima fan. I have leased or bought a new max every year beginning in 1986. It brealks my heart to dis a maxima................

And as unhappy as I am with my 04, if the 07 looks like I heard it will look I will be driving yet another Maxima again.

I sold my 2003 350Z because of the the tire feathering and a mass of other minor reoccuring problems only to buy an 04 Maxima that goes to the dealer far too often for warranty work. From the shimmy, to the power seats sticking, steering wheel not telecoping back out after hitting the button to move it in, misaligned glove compartment, the Oxygen sensor going and having to be towed and of course what I have listed already takes it's toll even on my dedicated Nissan soul!!

My State has an arbitration Board to assist in resolving pre Lemon Law claims. Maybe it's time to call the boys at Nissan and demand another Max that does not wind my watch for me while I cruise on a smooth flat highway.

If not I will change my user name to shimmy!!!

First call Nissan and tell them whats going on and if they bust your ba*ls go directly to the State board. I wish you luck and let us know the outcome.

Im gettin sick and tired of my CD player skipping, I know a few of you have had it replaced under the TSB, But I moved my info screen down and installed the 7" screen up top and I know they'll blame that for the problem. Maybe time to aftermarket...

Got to love some workers at car dealerships. I call to schedule an appointment now about ten days since having new rotors, rims, and tires installed and having them do an alignment. The shimmy is so obvious in the steering wheel my dog would recognize it. The person advises I need to drive the car 5,000 miles more to "break in" the new parts and things will "settle down".

I don't think so!! In 5000 miles if the shimmy still exists it will have been owned by Nissan and not me for 4,900 of them miles. This is the sixth and final shimmy fix for me, I think that shows alot of patience on my part.............

I await a return call with an appointment this morning. If I did not love maximas as much as I do this car would have been gone after trip four!!!

re

as far as an alignment, nissan does not carry anything for 18'' wheels , escpecally with rim gaurd tires , its subcontacted out , for atleast my dealer ,to whom i dont know . And for tire balance, good luck on finding Quality balancing , it took me six places , to get the tires balance correctly , and after the dum **** stripped three lug nuts. Just make sure the stick on weights dont fly off

Back from yet anotehr trip to the dealer. They scratched the front rims agai.b The servive manahger made a big stink that he was firing the kid [his nephew] and get a good tire man. The Kikd is also the owner's son, he will continue to do whtever.

Tires are starting to show cuffing but I have only gone to the Dealer and back. It's a 78 mile trip. Damn, 78 miles.

Oh that shimmy, I am going to write a poem/rap:

My Max does shimmy, it Hip-Hops west
It shimmys fine to the north, but to the South it shimmys best
If my watch needs winding, I grasp the steering wheel
It loade the winder and awaitblevibrates the winder and does so with eae ease but the shuimmy ain't no deal
It's got fresh skins at 18 feet high
