4th. Gen NYPD undercover
107th. Precinct has a 4th gen/white. NYPD undercover car. Factory Radio section, ashtray, console totally gutted. Had the PD computer in it, radio gear etc.
Saw them with it about two summers back. Not sure if they still have it in their fleet, but the officer who was driving it seemed very interesting in keeping it.
I was at the Exxon on Hillside Ave & Queens Blvd. and I pulled up right next to it. Came out the car, and started checking it out, just because it was another car like mine (same color). When I saw all the gear inside, I was like, "Ooooh, this is PD." :-).
The officer seemed interested in my car and said, he likes to drive this around because its fast and comfy. It was an auto with no apparent mods.

They have cop cars driving in Black chrysler 300's with tints. the reason why I know this is because I saw them pull up in front of a grocery store with guns drawn. They caught 2 guys trying to break in via the roof of the store, so it would not suprise me if they start driving around in 6 generation max.

I never heard of a Nissan before the post above, although I've seen officers ride in (what I assume are) impounded cars. Saw 2 of them in a 6th gen not that long ago, but it was completely stock -- no console/PC/antennas/lights/etc. That's why I figure they're still using domestics only...
That's why I got spooked by the whole business of the decked-out 6th gen that Elimackman posted about above (2nd post).
So now we also have to be aware of Maximas when moving over the speed limit? Wow!
At least that isn't the case in my area yet. Crown Vics and Impalas are the basic units. The unmarked ones can also be Vics and Impalas, but are mostly modified Mustangs.
My strangest ticket was received back in 1987 while travelling from Matamoros MX, headed for Atlanta. I was in my '85 Maxima, sitting on an even 105 mph as I sailed through the totally empty country between Brownsville TX and Kingsville TX. If you've been there, you know there is about a seventy mile stretch where the only things visible are fence posts (set over 200 feet away from the roadway; land is cheap there) and an open horizon. Even 105 mph there seems like you are standing still.
I crested a gentle rise, noting nothing behind me for miles, then saw an old Chevy parked in the ditch ahead of me. It was the only thing for miles in front of me. As I zipped by, I noted it was a 1953 Bel Air. I had owned one of those when I lived in Arizona in the late 1950s. You can guess the rest. It came zipping out of the ditch, with inside lights flashing, and lightonthehill was trying to explain to an officer (who spoke very little English) why a big fine was sufficent, and jail would not be necessary.
He was legit, as the address to which I mailed my fine was a sheriff's office. Since then, I have trusted no vehicle anywhere. I would not be surprised to see a Cooper Mini used as an unmarked unit some day.

Well, fellas I wouldn't doubt any of it especially since nissan makes the maxima in Tennesse. I even heard some rumors that nissan was trying to get into nascar which only american made cars can enter. I may be wrong and I sure do hope so.
I saw a 5th gen in Burger King parking lot (Queens Blvd, next to Queens Center). It was Emerald and two cops were in it. I jokingly pulled up to them and asked them if they confiscated it and they said "nope...guess again." And he hit a button on the steering wheel and the strobes came on. =D
Hahaha, it was awesome.

Any of you guys watch "The Wire" on HBO? Stringer Bell was rollin a 6th gen last week. The cops on there drive sentras and older maxes. Also have you guys noticed the Nissan name is everywhere on TV? It seems like their trying to sponsor everything nowadays.
This is off topic, but its funnier than sh**!

If we could have a list of where you guys patrol and dates, that'd be appreciated, btw...

Very true, the reason that most are domestics, Impalas and Crown Vics, is because these cars are massed produced as Police Interceptor models. They last longer.. or atleast are supposed to than the regular civilian versions. After a trip in Queens, I was able to see a brand new Crown Victoria with the light package and everything on it... except lettering.. sticker price was a nice $35k
Believe it or not, the reason imports arent used is because they dont hold up too well to our streets and the abuse they endure. Look at the Taxis... remember when the city let Honda Odyssey minivans roam around as yellow taxis? Dont see much of those around anymore for that reason.
But yea I've seen everything from Ford Escapes to Jeep Cherokees and LIberty's to Camrys, Accords and Maximas being used.. with lights and sirens. Cant tell you where or when, just to keep you guys on your toes. And of course as long as your not doing anything, whats to worry about.

As for riding 2 by 2.. not always, sometimes 2 will ride out back like passengers... its hard to tell.
I forgot one type of vehicle that is absolutely mandatory for every sheriff's department in the south: A four wheel drive SUV. Many use Jeeps to fill this slot, but I have seen other makes. I have seen at least four of these lined up in front of my local sheriff's office. Two had top racks, while two had inside lights.
Austin, there are a few of them in longwood. Orange and seminole county have at least 2 each. and OPD has like 3......The giveaway is the laptop stand which is visible if they are oncoming and only at night if they are ahead of u....

Apparently, Nissan is a sponsor of "Law & Order." I just saw a commercial on TNT for syndicated eps of "L & O" and at the end it said, "sponsored by Nissan." On another note, Nissans are popping up in even more places on TV. The ABC show "Desperate Housewives" must have some type of contract with Nissan. In the first few episodes, one of the blonde 'housewives' drove up in a brand-new, silver 350Z, and in a later ep, she was shown washing it. Also, one of the guys on the show drives a Nissan Titan. (Blatantly shown in the background of a scene.) Just think it's cool to see Nissan getting represented on TV!
6th gen Maxima, a movie star?
Well being a proud owner of a 2004 Nissan Maxima, I'm always on the lookout for my car on TV and such, and recently, I see it everywhere. Its been in Coach Carter, although driven by a drug dealer, and i saw it tonight in Hitched, although just a brief cameo. Movie star?
