If you're planning on doing "everything in your powers" to get the 6th gen, try saving up for a house first. You should get your priorities straight. If you're comming from a 4banger, then yeah the 6th gen must have been fun. Just remember that 6th gen is not the only car out there for you.

I've had mine for over a month and love every second I spend in it. Good luck in getting yours...there may be many other cars out there, but I doubt that any of them would have given me the same feeling that owning my 6th gen maxima has.

^ true

He's coming from a Maxima that's 20 years older....I can only imagine how that can feel.

Good Luck getting the 6th gen.

I've never driven one, my Uncle in Ohio has a White one on 20 Inch Oasis with many interior mods...I can't wait till he lets me drive it

No doubt it is an impressive car and I really loved it from the test drive as well. I bought it at the end of January and to this day I still feel the same when I drive it. Can't say that for many of the cars I have owned before this one and I had many cars in my life so far. Good luck in getting one but save up your $ and don't finance too much of it or it won't be worth it no matter how nice the car is.

I'll 2nd the smoke comment. More HP gains via less wind resistance and style.

Just got mine today. I love it. Coming from a Dodge truck it is a radical change. My ex-wife has a 5th gen and I loved that one. I was a little hesitant to get the 6 speed, but I love it so far.

Just a note - Several posters early in this thread asked if UberZogster's '86 Maxima is a 'four-banger'. It is not. The second gen ('85 thru '88) Maximas were very similar to the 6th gen in many ways. They were 3 liter 6 cylinder front wheel drive vehicles.

They didn't have the HP of the 6th gen's 3.5, and the autos were 4 speed and the manuals were 5 speed. And the engine was actually the powerplant of the Z installed sideways in the engine compartment. But they were very impressive for their era. I put 206,000 wonderful miles on an '85 Maxima, and will always consider that car to be my all-time 'true love' of motor vehicles.

Looking back, it is sort of scary how much I loved that '85 Maxima. I kept it immaculate, and had added several accessories that made it unique. I actually felt dampness on my pillow for days after finally trading my 'true love' in.

I consider our 6th gen Maxima to be nothing more than a refined evolutionary descendant of the 2nd gen Maxima, which was totally different from the lesser-powered rear-wheel drive first gen Maxima.

Oh, and they called it puppy love....

The 6th gen is my 3rd Max... need to put it in my sig already....

Enjoy it when you get it, but do your research so you get the best deal on it that you can. Shop it on the net, and get on here for advice.

Sounds like my dad, he went to a dealer one day to look at Altimas. He ended up testing driving a load '04 SL and came home with it the same day.

Have you ever seen the commercial with the guy and his prelude in the driveway, and the house is in major disrepair but the car is pristine? I personally get way more excited over cars than homes too...everyones priorities are different....im not saying to live in a box and have a Ferrari though

The 6th gens are great car even with some of the problems that some members have had. I have my car for two years and I still love it.

Status?

So, UberZogster, have you gotten a 6th gen yet?

By the way, my initial reaction upon driving the Maxima was similar to yours. I knew I was hooked and had to have one.

Good luck on your purchase and let us know what you get.

this is one of the best cars I have ever owned. Defininately the best sedan that I have owned. I bought mine because my next door neighbor came home with one after trading in there 5th gen. The next weekend I went and got one. The test drive said it all for me. So UberZogster I hope a new max finds its way in your garage.

Yo Uberzog,

Sounds like you got the fever!!

Something helpful to consider...while the 6th gens are truly awesome, the trade in value isnt. I sold my 04 SE a few months back, 35k miles, got $18k on the trade in. I checked back on their website a few days later, they were selling it for $24.

So, with some searching, you could find a decent mid milage 6th gen for around $20-22k. Hope this helps your quest!! Wish I would have bought mine preowned!

Good luck!
