As I love driving my 05 SL, I just turned 3400 today. Mind you, I'm not very hard on my car, I actually baby it. Here in the south, it was in the 90's, so I decided to turn my AC on. As the car got a little cooler, I went to turn the fan down and nothing. So, I then decided to turn it off and see if would do it again. When I went to turn it off, the air came out the defrosters, only it was outside air. As I'm driving down the expressway, I'm trying to fix this and nothing! So, I got really pissed, since my car was just in the shop for an oil change and balancing of the tires.
Here I am, trying to drive and very pissed off. So, I call my dealership and they tell me to come by and see if it's a quick fix. Sure enough, they have to order the part, the air contoller unit has gone out. I only have 3400 miles and it's already falling apart.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Also, does your sunroof make a terrible noise when you go to shut it? They told me they checked 3 other cars and they all did the same thing. If I wanted to I could come and listen to them all. I just thought it sounded terrible, like something was wrong.

 

When you have it set to outside air, with the fan off, and do not set where you want the air to come out from, it comes out of the defrosters slightly. To stop the air from flowing you should try pressing the other button so that air does into the car.

 

No, even when I turn it completely off, the fan still runs through the defrosters. They told me that my air controller unit has gone out. I just thinks that's rather odd, since I only have 3400 miles. There is not turning the fan off or turning the fan speed down. It's stuck on full blown and when you hit the off button, it come thru the defrosters. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. So, it's there now getting fixed, hopefully nothing else will go wrong!

 

Electronic parts generally either goes bad quickly or last forever, unless something else screws it up. Probably just a blown $.03 capacitor or something. If some other electronic parts goes in your ride soon, I'd be worry.

 

Can you be more specific/descriptive about the terrible noise the sunroof makes?
