Got me a nice new toy today...plug and play NAV unit

Got me a nice new Garmin StreetPilot c340. Thing is a steal at $647.00 shipped 2 day air. All built in maps and antenna. I love this thing. Easy to remove and suction cup to the windshield. If any of you are looking for a sweet nav unit, easy to swap from car to car, no hastle with changing state maps....this is your boy. Had to get it so the wife can explore while I am gone.

Real compact in size and touch screen use, built in speaker.......nice....well, at least for us non OEM optioned nav guys.

Hi guys,
I just bought the same NAV unit today, hopefully I will get it by this weekend. I've been looking for one for a while, and the C340 seems to be the best for a good price. I bought anti-glare screen protector too because I heard it is hard to see the screen during the day.

this might be a stupid question, but does it run on batteries?? I don't see a power cord.

It would look sweet, but not if theres a cheap cord running down to the cigarette lighter.

I'm a cheap guy. So I bought the Navman Pin100 (Mitac Mio 168) for less than $300. It's a PocketPC/MP3-player/GPS. The screen size is the same as yours but it goes vertical. The maps are stored on a SD card. Another good thing is I threw out the GPS software (terrible Atlas maps) and installed another source or many different source I can get my hands on. I like Inav the most. The LCD screen is hard to see in direct sunlight. But there are many dark places in the Max for it. I can't read it without my reading glass anyway. But the female voice is loud and clear, I normally don't look at it. It gives my freedom to go places and not worry about anything. Imagine park the car downtown and walk places and when it's time just ask it to go back to where you parked the car. Try to do that with any other systems. After I hooked up my Zen Touch with the PAC NIS, I bought a couple of Arkon holders (one for the vent and one for the cup-holder, for around $12 at buy.com). Both the Zen and Navman go there (I prefer the cup-holder type)

Nice! I currently have the Streetpilot III Deluxe and was looking at this unit or the new 2720. It's about a 300 difference so I am not sure yet which I am going with. If anyone wants a used Streetpilot III for cheap, hit me up. I'll be putting it on eBay in the next couple weeks.

How long was this used? What does it come with? How much?

Thank you

I guess you guys don't have complaints about Garmin's outdated streetmaps. I read the comments on Garmin 2720. They indicate the points of interest don't exist or still exist when it was destroyed or replaced. check it out.. http://reviews.cnet.com/Garmin_Stree...html?tag=uolst

Thanks, buddy. I didn't buy anything yet. I'm still trying to get feedback. If I spend $800, I want to make sure it's the best quality choice. The feedback from the Lowrance i500 is looking the best out of negatives. What's your experience?

I read that review before I got it. No problems at all. Thing works awsome. The power cord is hidden under my dash cover. Easy to take it in the house and program it in my palm. This thing is really nice. Maps seem OK for out here in a VERY small town. I am still learning how to use all the features. I spent over a year looking at several out there. Mounted on a suction cup windshield mount next to the radar detector for now till I hardwire the radar. I could care less about memory cards and the next map update is free. For the mid $600 range, not ripping up the dash, ability to remove it and not fear my dash getting raped.....I love it. Ramberg, this might be a nice toy for you. Thanks for looking out. Feels nice to just go to a different city without Yahoo maps or the Atlas. Yea....not all the stuff is in there...but for the price and features.....

Here is the review for the Lowrance Iway 500. I don't have it yet, but I am really thinking about it.

If you are going to buy it, this is the cheapest place so far.

http://gpscentral.ca/products/garmin/quest.htm

This is the one I just bought. Garmin Quest.
Cost was less than $500 CAD.
Turn by turn street routing, voice guided directions.
It has a North American base map with 115 mb memory for more detailed maps.

I am new to GPS but this one is easy to work and seems to work great.
Only drawback I have read is the small memory, and a cheap mounting bracket set up.

I think the one Ramberg recommended is way much better due to the larger HD and USB port, you can keep updating your map without problem. And it can play MP3 as well.

Of course, it is very expensive. But you get what you pay for.

Since I am retired I alway search around for the lowest price and review the sites that are selling the items for their customer service, etc.

I might buy this as I don't need mp3.

I found out that http://buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=GRQUEST is in NJ has it for 348 dollars including shipping.

Ramberg, you are right. wesallenjr Recommend it first. Credit goes back to wesallenjr.

PS. your link was accidentally ruined by the extra "which" somehow included in the URL .

I think this is the one you found.

http://buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=GRQUEST

Nice one.
